Love the plans but surely a 19" monitor would be better, I could just see a 17" being too small. Are you planning on incorporating your spinner into the CP?

IMHO bezel art seems to age quickly....

Keep it simple?  maybe a simple line or two?

as someone who their late adolescent and early teenage years playing SF2 in an arcade every day after school i have to say the black and white characters in the squares and cp image just dont look right.  especially with the cp image being color.  i dig it otherwise.  i love actual bezel art and not just having the bezel blacked out.  just my two cents.

im all for a classic look, untouched bezel and control panel. The character art on the ones you modified are out of era. That kind of artwork came much later in the SF series.

Looking good, I'm struggling now with some art ideas, for me that is the most difficult part of a build.

Said it once, I'll say it again, those buttons are cool.
But I got to say something about the placement of them.
I put the buttons on the front of my second machine, "Adam's Arcade". After machine was built he said that people would lean into them and hit the red Quit button, and end the game
You just have the player start buttons there so it might not be a big deal.
Adam lived in Louisville at the time so it wasnt like I could help a lot.
He found some button covers that fixed the problem.
First pic below is the buttons without the guards, second is with the guards.
After that little fiasco I promised myself never to put buttons on the front again, but he didnt cover his P1 and P2 start buttons, so it may not be a problem if thats all you are going to put there.

I think it should look pretty good once you fill the holes and paint it. Then again, maybe it'll be too obvious that it was an outlet cover... It's worth a try anyway.

I like your idea, but i would see if i could put some bolts in the screw holes to hold it to the cab, but cover the bolt heads (flush bolts) with bondo and paint so you cant see them.

I like it and I think you are right, it will look pretty good painted.  Might even look more realistic if you rounded the corners a bit?  A grinder would make fast work of that.  Probably not worth trying with a file.

Now that is a sweet coin "door." I still think the outlet cover wouldn't be bad. What I would want to try though is cover the screw holes over and drill new holes further out by the corners. Maybe with larger screws so it doesn't look as wimpy.

Looking good man.  The metal coin doors are way nicer.  I also at first thought you were a 7' Goliath thinking that was a full height machine and then I realized it was smaller in size and it made more sense.

Looking real good.

I think the wall switch plate is a good idea, and I think it would be pretty easy to fill those screw holes in with bondo if you are going to paint it, but I have to say I do like the your latest design with the aluminum plate and strips.
I am watching this thread and hoping to steal even more ideas!

I really like this build!  Not exactly a mini as it supports two players, but not full size.  I think I'll build a similar medium sized cab once I finish my pinball machine.

I love it!!!  I'm not crazy about all the tiny fans in the back, but who cares; no one will see them.  I'm definitely going to scrap my old coffee table machine and make a 3/4 size upright to go with my pinball machine.
My projects:
