Saddest Movie\Show ending that brought a tear to your Eye
« on: November 11, 2011, 12:18:21 am »
Metaphorical tear of course. A tear that could of possibly came out of your eye if you were not a heterosexual male.

Damn I need a moment….

Somewhat related:

This one made me sad because I knew that the era of "Batman the Animated Series"  was officially over and that all future DC/WB cartoons would be crap.  Thus far my prophecy has proven to be correct. :(

To you comic book nerds, the League leaves pretty much in order of their debut, grouped together in their most famous non-league sub-groups.

Actually.... there were a lot of sad moments in that universe:

Batman Beyond - Mr Freeze's Death

I could go on and on... showing Mr. Freeze's or Two Face's Origins or Showing Clay faces "death" but the point is almost everything releated to Timm/Dini's universe is full of emotion.

Tetsuo's demise.

My GF was in tears after watching that movie, or it could have been tears of relief that she made it through a 'one of my cartoons' for 2 hours without getting up.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.

Lol,
Too true!

Was watching that with my wife and daughter for the first time a while back, and wife was like "WTF?  This is hooooorrible!!"  Picks up after that but you don't expect to be watching people with fertility issues as the age in a kids flick! :P

To summarize the beginning for you:

Boy meets girl
Boy falls in love with girl
Boy marries girl
Boy and girl want family
Girl can’t have babies
Boy and girl try to enjoy life without kids and grow older
Girl dies
Boy attemps to come to grips with being sad & alone

Heartfelt comedic movie begins!

If you’ve personally experienced difficulty or failure in becoming pregnant, this is a particularly rough start to a cartoon movie.

I seen it and I looked it up again. Never realized people would be upset over it. Everyone said they cried in the video comments as well. To me it was just back story.

I also felt nothing at the end of Marley & Me.

Really that dog was acting up the whole entire move. Stupidest dog ever, I was supposed to feel something for it when it dies at the end?

I hate stupid dogs. My neighbor has a couple of big stupid dogs like that. 3 years they will still bark at me through the fence when I go in my back yard.

Stalingrad.......ending in the snow

The "Joy Luck Club" is probably one of the most moving movies Ive seen.  I ball my eyes out every time, like two rivers.

Worst part is that Id just watched it on the pc, then it came up on HBO the next day, and I foolishly watched it, and balled my eyes out again.

Great movie. But you have to really be prepared, and have the strength to endure the non-stop emotional heartbreak and pain that comes before the bit of Joy that later follows.

Related note, Toy Stoy 3 ending was kinda sad

+1

My wife and I both had a tough time with that one in the theater.  Our kids grew up with those movies and my oldest is now looking at colleges.  Pixar really knew how to push the buttons with that movie.

Had the DVD almost a year and haven't watched it yet.

The saddest for me was Michael Keaton's "My Life" about a man dying of cancer while his wife is pregnant.  The whole movie he's making video clips for his unborn child to watch as he grows up without his father.  The movie's almost 20 years old now.  Maybe it got to me because my wife was pregnant with our first child when I saw it.
Please!  Give me the good news first!

Star Wars Episode 3. When Anakin stands up as Darth Vader and shouts "Nooooooooooo!" I knew my childhood was dead. I wept for days.

During the Up montage I was totally feeling it, but when they hit its climax the lady next to me full-on burst into tears. It sorta took the edge off, cos it was kinda hilarious.

As for sad movie endings, although it totally redeems itself in the very end, The Iron Giant's sacrifice just about takes the cake.

Tears and movie in same sentence? What is this strange language you speak?

Unless of course you speak of the classic comedies making you laugh so hard tears spring forth, I.E. "Animal House", "Bachelor Party" "The Hangover".

Edit: Its too early.

Thats true, I forgot about that one. I got a little choked up when my boy JC dropped the cross in front of his mom. Brutal. You dont even have to be religious to appreciate what was going on during that movie.

Yeah, but then they sing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and it all gets a little happier.

In response to the original post, Stranger Than Fiction got me good and Up had me bawling like a little girl.

Only time I swear there was not a dry eye in the theater was during this film, and +1 to the fact that you don't need to be religious to appreciate it.

I've found that it's not the sad movies, but the ones that end on a particularly poignant and happy moment, like the end of Con-Air that get to me.
