Ok, so I've just started ordering parts on a cab that has been so far mostly vapourware, the look and theme of it has changed many times, all without ever being written down so I've decided now that parts are being bidded from and artwork ordered i should make a project announcement thread.
I've taken the name of the cab from the popular web series
http://www.redvsblue.com.
the reason for doing is I love the series, and that more often then not player 1 and 2 are colored red and blue, and out of all games i have ever played, its always been multiplayer games that i have loved the most
I plan on having a 27" ish screen, a rotatable control panel and some interesting lighting effects I havn't seen done previously.
If i use any of the ideas you have come up with please take it as flattery, as I've grown as a teenager wishing I had the cash to start, watching all the AMAZING innovation that has happened.
So on to business. and hope to see you on the other side.
The guys over at
www.aussiearcade.com.au have convinced me to use a TV tube with a JOMAC chassis attached as my monitor, I'm currently bidding on ebay to find a suitable TV that is pickup only in adelaide.
I also have started a bid over at
www.rentacoder.com for some vector art that will be used for the sideart. its a line stencil like drawing of the master chief from the halo video games.
this will be cut out of some thin wood that will end up being used in a wood plastic ply that will be lit up from behind, with the idea being when the machine is off it will be plain black with no visible art and when on a sort of anti-silhouette will shine through.
left side red, right side blue.
also the lighting will be controlled either by a LED wiz or a similar led driver i build myself, depends if i can get my head around the api's and plugins front ends and things are using.
attached image to explain the ply business.
black is wood, clear is plastic that light will shine through, circle is a placeholder until work at rentacoder.com is completed.
