combine coin and start... any problems?
« on: July 09, 2002, 10:09:51 am »
Well, my kids (mainly my kids friends) have HUGE problems understanding how to start a game..

why?

they have never seen an arcade game before... and don't understand that you put in quarters (and the button simulates that)... they want a single start key (that they can wail on 100 times to get a game to start)

Anyway, I was considering removing the buttons for coins... and mapping all coins with start... so you hit one button for both.

Can anyone see any troubles with this?

Only trouble I can come up with is that if you hit start a bunch of times fast on some games, it might show up as a coin jam.

What about setting up the games for FREE play ? that way no need to insert coins, just push the START buttons...

I'm not going to setup 4000 games to freeplay between each version... incase my kids play it.

As for the coin jam... some games, if you hit the coin button fast enough, it will say coinjam and lock up the machine... only a reset will allow it to continue.
