Hi i have a konami dedicated x men 4 player arcade, and i dont think it has a free play option on it?? At least its not located in the Test menu (button behind coin door) Any idea on the best way to make this thin play without having to rip open the coin doors and flip the coin switch all the time, Do they make quarter like tokens?? or any buton trigger things to rig up to hit the coin switch? Any help would be awesome!

hmmm that looks pretty neat but would i need 4 of them????? because there are 4 coin slots and each one activates each character? that would be pretty expensive if i need for of them.

Anyone else out there have the x men 4 player? and anyone ever rig it up for free play?

If you want to go with TOKENS, change the coin mech.

THe cheapest, just rig a switch thru the COIN ENTRY hole haging out and all the player has to do is push the button to get credit.

Yea thats what i would love to do, the problem is i have no direction on riggin up a switch, any ideas? would be cool to have like an arcade style button to push and for it it flip a lever to pull down the coin mech. have any more info for the idea you suggested??

put a cherry switch behind the coin eject plastic piece, so when someone pushes in the coin return it registers a credit. All you have to do is run the wires in parallel to the ones that trip when you insert a coin.

as per your PM, heres some pix and an ugly diagram,lol  the bottom cherry runs into existing wiring that I didnt "draw"

here is an normal shot:



and heres my million dollar diagram:


basically, the coin eject "hammer" hits the 2nd cherry switch and registers a credit but coins can still be put in the mechs if so desired. I could have positioned the cherries up top a little different because if a coin gets stuck I gotta get it unstuck manually, but if your doing this to forgo the use of coins, you're golden.

I own the 6-player version of X-men.  Here's a link to the manual (should be similar for your 4-player version):  http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Manuals_and_Schematics/X-Men_(6%20player).pdf

You should be able to set it for 7 credits per coin inserted.  That will help a little bit so you'll not have to open it as often.  Have you tried this?

hey man yea i changed it to that for awhile, but i think i might just start going with tokens in it, since its already set up for tokens, and just set a big pile of them around lol.

how about setting it up to a pulse board? so you can select the number of pulses (credits) that get inserted with the touch of a button.

mount your button somewhere on the cabinet, run it through the pulse board, set your dip switches for number of pulses and then wire it to the coin switches. its really easy. take the two wires off of each coin switch and connect them to the outputs on the board.

or if you just wanted to go the simple route, take the the positives off of your 4 coin switches connect them all to one side of  a switch behind one of your quarterback buttons, connect the other side of the switch to a ground.
