« on: July 30, 2009, 01:29:33 pm »
Wanted to get some ideas from everybody on this subject...
Has anybody have any pics/ideas of what they have or wish to have?

This whole website is full of pics and threads of gamerooms.  Look around.   :)

Don't call it a Man Cave, though.  It makes it sound like a place you'd find on the Neverland Ranch.

Ummm...i was lucky and we agreed before moving into our  new home that main and top floor were hers design wise and the basement was mine.

Unless she is totally ok with what you do and a cool wife in general, I would strongly recommend you say something along the lines of "Not sure about what it will look like...just going to see as I go along" as opposed to "itll look like Man Cave X"...some wives are cool (like mine) but a few will use that as an opportunity to "get involved"...getting involved usually starts with design picks...then building suggestions...then decor... and finally furnishings...before you know it...you have built her a great studio apartment. ;)

And you will be left with only the dream of what could have been...

mine right now is a combination workshop/gameroom with no real distinction between the two.

i would like to soon be able to build a steel building outside in the yard about 30X60 for the workshop, then ill be free to turn the basement into a true gameroom / sports bar.

Its depends on what mood she is in....
Long story short...We are in the process of buying a new home...one home has a spare bedroom, the other has room for a extra building in the yard... depending on what we decide deterimes the outcome...

When we first started, she tried to have a say in the matter..."We could take the spare bedroom and make it yours and ( my little girl's) playroom " Then she tried making color choices...etc...
I got sick of it... :banghead:
After using a jedi mind trick, or pimp slap...she now knows that this space will be designed out of my choosing. But now another place is coming up for bid...and i could build a workshop/gameroom...and i just need ideas...

My goal is that I want to eventually have a 3 section building...(workshop)-(arcade/bar/hometheatre)-(garage) and I want the gameroom to be a place to lounge...I figured have my mame cab and two orginal arcade cabs....Pinball machine...fooseball etc...
I tried doing a search, and i mostly only saw Hunting shack man cave....or millionare bought man caves...

Could you teach us the Jedi Pimp Slap?  That could be useful.

If you can find the orginal release of Empire...There is a scene Lucas cut out of the flick where Lando Callrissian pimp slapped Leia demanding for a Colt 45...it before C3-PO says..."my word"

If you want more "Man Caves" than you can shake a stick at...you want to go here:

Game Room Thread

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Home Theater Construction Thread

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=19

There is a stickied thread on finished game rooms/man caves.

For more check out their Home Theater construction thread which also includes wetbars etc...but the thread I linked you is all about game rooms and man caves :)

EDIT: The thread with the game room photos is here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=793178

either way these threads are all worth looking at...even on on Game room accessories which has everything from arcade cabs (some members here) to pool tables etc...

Yeah. It sounds like some kind of cottaging club.
