  • Why buy it when you can BUILD it!
So I am setting up a few emulators in MALA and learning as I go. I have 3 or 4 working now with there respective layouts switching to the emulator selected.

My SNES (SNES9X) emulator seems to have some problems tho. When I set up mu SNES emulator, The art sections and the game list sections are blank. The bottom of the screen still says 1 or 933 roms (or whatever the number is of roms that I have) and I can scroll throughout the roms list and hear sound effects of next rom being selected and the number will change to 2 of, 3 of ,4 of ect. So the roms are there but there names are not showing up on the list.

When I do launch a rom "blind" the Emulator starts but says failed to load rom. The emulator stays open and if I go to "file" "open Rom" I can open the rom and play no problem.

Anyone have some insight on my problem?

TIA

When you refresh your games list, what happens?

I ask because the emulator behavior sounds like what happens when the command line contains the wrong rom name or non-existent rom.

Did you move the rom directory or rename roms AFTER you setup MALA?

how does one refresh the game list?

yes I set up this emu and directories after I had MALA running for a while.

I'm not sure if this is the solution but it doesn't hurt to try.

With MALA running(SNES), right click anywhere and select  "Refresh Main Game List" from the pop-up menu.   MALA will populate the list with Roms it finds in the folder YOU set in the setup menus.

Thanks for the help man. I tried refreshing the list and it seem to pick up the roms, compiles a list with a total number and I can scroll thru the numbers,,,,but there is no "text" where the list needs to be.

Could I be missing a "font"?`

I think by default, Mala uses ARIAL font.

You can change what font is used using the malalayout application.  Make sure the list is set to "text" instead of image.

What do you see when you open that gamelist in the gamelist editor?

Not sure how to run the game list editor. I will do some research into how and get back to you when I figure it out.

Thank you.

So I have been playing around to no avail.

I got this window (pic) up and it says that I have 757 games, however, none show up on this list either.

am I on the right track?
