Visual Pinball Pinball Hybrid commercially available
« on: August 26, 2008, 01:43:39 am »
I was surfing the web and came across this:

http://www.thepinballcompany.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=696

I remember seeing a BYOCer with a hybrid cabinet (vertical LCD for the table and normal LCD for the back panel).

However, I found it interesting that a company is now mass producing it commercially.

Neat.  However, the price... not so neat..  :o

ultrapin had been around for a long time but now ultrapin is no more. they are making a new machine based on future pinball instead of visual pinball called multipin. you can still buy ultrapin machines but they are not being made anymore.

the pricepoint is where its at because its aimed at places like bars clubs and gamerooms not the average joe.

The multipin is not being made by the same people who made ultra-pin. They don't deserve that sort of insult. ;D

Eh.. I never played one of these.. but I can't imagine it even comes close to the real thing.  For less money, you can get a really nice pin.

You mean floored?

Yeah, Ultrapin has been around. Where you been? (Although...that price is down a couple grand from when it launched.) Shar, who's making this Future Pin machine?

Well.. I rather play one real pinball than any number of non-real pinball.  Plus I already have Visual Pin on my MAME machine.   You said hundreds.. can you add tables to the ultrapin?  I know it comes with 12.

If you have visual pin on your mame machine then you must have visited a vp site or vpforums didn't you notice that there was more than 12 tables available? Maybe this is the reason for your bias?

Didn't realize you could add more tables to the ultrapin.   That is a good thing.  The price is what shrugs me off.  If I can get almost 4 real pins for the same price....then to me it's a no brainer.  I just prefer real pinball over emulated pinball.   Just an opinion...... I can see how some people would like it better.

BTW.. just bought my first real pin.. it isn't even at my house yet.   I was using VP for a long time, and enjoyed it quite a bit.

While simulated pinball is fun, the crappiest real pinball machine is better than the best visual pinball machine.

Thanks, glad you like it.
Running Future Pinball - just over 100 tables available.

I have a Zaccaria Pinball Champ pin in the house also, wish I had space for more hence the FP Cab which I am really happy with.
Cheers Pinguy

You might think so. Others not. I like tables to function tip-top. With VP you don't have to worry about that. Sticking flippers and buttons really suck.

Well, now that someone who speaks english has done it, all those interested in building their own, take a seat.
