Spy Hunter Pontiac Commercial
« on: March 14, 2008, 02:47:49 pm »
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've checked in here, but thought some of you might enjoy this.  I have had the opportunity over the past few weeks to work on a Spy Hunter themed commercial for Pontiac, where we start with the classic old-school graphics, and then go into the world of the game in a more 3-d fashion.  It's a pretty neat commercial, and I'm proud to have been the lead on look development and texture, since I've been a huge fan of old school games all my life.  After the way things turned out with my business venture, It's nice to be able to mix my work and my hobbies once again. :)

Anyway, have a look!  Hope you enjoy it.  By the way, it is supposed to be a widescreen spot, but they chose to squish it for some reason.

That was great. I like this comment someone left

I normally hate when companies try to advertise utilizing something they seem to know nothing about. They normally come off as unbelievable, and I think this spot is of the contrary. Too bad I dont really watch tv, or I be able to see this for real!

Bumping this a little late, but I just saw the commercial and did a search to see if it had come up on here already.

Rob, you did an awesome job!  I remember being totally impressed with how well they brought in elements of the real game; you could tell the people who made it had actually spend some time pumping quarter in a Spy Hunter machine.  Now I know who's responsible.  Nice work, man.  8)

My only complaint:  At first, I thought it was a commercial for a remake of the game.  I kept waiting for the XBox or PlayStation logo to come up.  Very disappointed to find out it was only a car commercial.  Somebody needs to get this game made!  :D

Awesome commercial. Shame they're going to have to do a new voice over next year - it's not going to be under 30K anymore...

They already made a 3d version of spy hunter for the consoles... and it sucked.

The game plays much better in Top view - when one can actually see the carnage
from the weapons you wield.    Also, top view limits your reaction time, and
makes things much more challenging and lightning fast.

That was awesome! There's no way I could think of making that commercial any better or even be more true to the game. I love the background and road textures being 3D and looking just like the game. And of course that catchy tune makes it all the better. Truly awesome!

By the way did you also have anything to do with that car commerical mimicking pac-man? That one was cool too. Or was it an inspiration for this commercial?
