Wells GArdener 19" on-sale?
« on: December 07, 2007, 11:54:59 am »

Was curious if this clearance price is a decent deal for the U3100 WG VGA monitor ~ $165

It is 19", but thinking I want to hold out for the larger 24" or 25" screen to maximize the vertical games like pacman and such.  I am currently using a 21" PC  monitor.

These are now at $139. Can anyone give any comments on them? I'm thinking of getting one too just because of the sweet price. Wonder if would work in my old Final Fight cab.....

as far as i can tell, any monitor will work.

monitors in jamma cabs all have the same connector that takes a white dongle with the RGB cables going into it.

is that right?

It depends on the application you need it for?
If a vga monitor is what you are after this will work. This is a nice drop in for 48-1 or 60-1 situation as those boards run either vga or cga.
cga is what probably 95% of the games in mame run at. So if your not interested in authentic resolutions this will work but with a compromise.(no native res with mame)

Do you have a picture of where the power plugs in also?

well, i'm new to this (my last post was more of a question than a fact) but i'm pretty sure the power goes in there too.

it comes out the power supply and then into the jamma connector, then out the other side and up into the monitor - along with the video colours and presumably a ground wire.

can anyone confirm that?

The U3100 and U3000 moniotrs both use a standard "pronged" AC power connector. They connect to the monitor PCB through a standard 3 pin connector. Got a pdf manual somewhere from mine will see if I can find it.

Can those (power plugs) be flipped around and put in "backwards" there-by blowing up the monitor and the cab and then setting fire to the game room causing all kinds of embarrassment?

It's just a VGA monitor, so I'm not sure what advantage you're going to gain over a 21" SVGA monitor.

The connector questions are answered in the spec sheet or manual -- power is a keyed connector.

http://www.wellsgardner.com/service/

monitors in jamma cabs all have the same connector that takes a white dongle with the RGB cables going into it.
is that right?

Nope -- there isn't a "standard" for JAMMA connections to the monitor, other than that there are R,G,B, Ground, and Composite Negative Sync connections -- different monitors can have different connectors and pinouts.

oh ..

i tried to do some more research and found this useful for describing the connection. he tries to make it simple but as always with these things they get confusing .. but the picture matches mine.

i seem to have a 2700 monitor connector.
the model number is 19K7689 wells-gardner so i dunno where 2700 comes from.

dirty:

well.. the fuses on the board next to the connector match anyway. the wires don't seem to.

The only difference is your syncs are tied (which is normal for JAMMA)
