Got my U360's.. But Im Joystickless and my x, and y seem to be backwards also ..

Got my U360's.. intstalled on cab.. and my x, and y seem to be backwards also .. It wont work in mamewah at all.. i can't seem how to enable it in the front end, and in mame it doesnt work instead my mouse works in game play

I need help do i need to phyisically rotate the sticks and take apart my panel.. or can I simply configure it within the provided software.. also I cant figure out how to configure it within mame and mamewah! I'm Joystickless please help!

you *could* use the software to remap up==down and left==right (or whatever orientation fixes it) but it's probably better in the long run to actually do the dirty work and fix it by taking apart your CP.  I say this because the instant you get a U360, you want to load maps into it, like for Q*bert and other specialty games.  All of those maps will be useless for you because you're backwards.

Why not switch over to mala.  There is a plugin that makes the switching automatic for it.

When you open the windows control panel - game controls file, do you see the directions on the sticks?

If so, you just need to enable joysticks in mame.  I am not sure how to do this in mamewah as mala will automatically set this up and has an easy interface for using gamepads as your controls within the frontend.

I spent alot of time setting up mamewah, which is why id rather not leave the software.. does anyone know how to get them working in mame? / mamewah

I already did that and my mouse is working in mame now not the joystick? and i cant get it to work in mamewah either .. but the good news is now my x, and y are respectivly set correctly i just physically rotated the encoder on the joysticks... and in windows game controllers they are now responding correctly.. so close!! I just need to get them working in my front end still and mame of course.. my ini file is as follows..:

No joke, but you can always try the following in regard to mame.

Install mala into any directory, point it to your mame.exe when asked.  Now use the mala gui to config mame options.  Once done, go back into mamewah.  With the mala mame config, I found I no longer need to edit any ini files.

I usually use the mamewah config tool for version 1.61,  I'm getting really close  as of now I have my N64 controller scrolling through my game list, but thats obviously not what I want, It shows 4 different joysticks 2 of which I hope are the ultimarcs but I can't figure out how to toggle them and its possible that the ultimarc joys might not even be on that list because i have other joys plugged in, and in mame it was using the n64 controller??

i tried mala just now in preliminary stages of setting it up.. I now have the ultimarc U360's scrolling through the game list however mame is still only using my keyboard arrows?

I think Windows sets joystick numbering and joystick 1 is the first joystick you connect, 2 is the second and so on. So you'd probably have to disconnect all controllers and joysticks and connect them in the order you want them, U360 being the first to connect.

Or just go into the global settings of MAME and change inputs for players to be the joysticks you want.

I dissconnected the N64 / NES adaptor and its working in mame now! which is good... however Im scared to reconnenct my retro-usb controllers I hope they won't over ride my U360's etc..

Another really strange thing is in MaLa its fine where my game list doesn't scroll down.. but in mamewah my list scrolls down by it self, not sure why my game list in mamewah is that sensitive.. I might just go with MaLa after all but i can't seem to get gamecreatures BLUE theme to work with any snaps/ or video previews. I also miss my "random" button that I had in mamewah can i set that in MaLa so it will randomly jump to a different game on the list ?

also looking for 1280x layout... alot of the layouts im finding are 1024x etc..

It was also said that it supports animation in the layouts, I have yet to come across one that I can try out..  Ive seen one for bubble bobble I think it was for mamewah / or atomic fe i don't remember off the screenshot archive

*By the way In game so far I really enjoy them.. been setting some hi-scores already! .. But the ball-tops seem to be unscrewing.. Ive read that I can use glue/apoxy but i don't want to do that or pliers. Or underneath something with a screwdriver.. id rather not take apart my panel again!!

I had the same problem on my cabinet. I ended up using epoxy resin, which is basically a permanent solution. My 8-way sticks were mounted from underneath the panel so if I ever needed to remove them I had to take off the e-clip on the end of the shaft and remove upwards. Just an extra step to removal.

But of course you are using 360s which are much more delicate. I suppose if your mounting plates are on top of the panel then it wont matter at all if you use epoxy resin. But if the plate is underneath then I'd be very careful how you do this. 

I read this thread with interest because I will be ordering 2x 360s soon for my CP project. I like how all Ultimarc interfaces are all set up for Mame. But in all the research I've done I do understand that these sticks are independent and cannot be routed through a Minipac.
