Control Panel Wire Holder and Strain Relief

What can I use to hold the wire coming out of my control panel? Basically I want something similar to like whats on a controller. It's usually made of rubber or plastic and covers the wire going into the controller and at the plug. It's also somewhat flexible to prevent the wire from being bent too much and breaking. A bend relief boot or strain relief boot. I believe thats what they are called. Where can I get one of these to fit my wooden control panel?

I know what you mean, and I think that your description is right  - but I usually see these rubber boots designed for plastic or metal containers.  Maybe you will need to cover a hole with a small metal plate?  I've seen metal-mesh used before for this.

I'm sure that you can buy a boot from your local electronics store, or even online.  But don't try a shoe store

I was thinking of putting some metal and a rubber grommet but that doesn't work as a strain relief. That only keeps the wire from being damaged by the sharp edges. I need something that will work as a grommet, hold the wire in place from being pulled out and as a strain relief.

What have you guys that have been making stand alone control panels been using?

Thats cool thanks. But I was also hoping they would have a strain relief boot/sleeve. Do you know of any of those? Maybe I'll just try one of these out.

I have used heat shrink tubing and have gotten good results.  Sometimes I've used multiple sizes on top of each other to get the desired flex limitation.
