What do you guys think of me using some of these buttons on my old Williams coin door?  Maybe if I enlarge the hole these buttons will fit nicely.  What do you guys think?  I'm working on my first CAB & CP from an old Defender CAB.  I saved the coin door but the mecs looked bad so I tossed them but maybe these new buttons will fit in nicely.

Any idea if these will fit (cover the opening) of a coinco, williams, bally, or happ coin door?  If you removed the original (usually crappy) red coin return and bezel, it may fit.

Instead of "dead" coin returns that drop inserted coins on the bottom on my cabinet, this would actually given them a purpose.

On my coin door, the bezel for the coin drop is 2" x 2", the actual hole in the coin door is 1.25" wide x 1.75" high.

You can see in the first pic, on this coin door I didn't have a decent coin drop so I had to improvise with pushbuttons.  These would make an ideal replacement and are actually cheaper than buying a new coin drop kit

The CDR pushbuttons are a perfect solution for many who do not want to go the complete coindoor route.  Even as an add on to a real coin door they are looking great.  Congrats on a great product.

Isn't it just a standard rectangle button with a insert? Not trying to be a buzzkill or anything.  I went for the Ultracade red button on the top center of the panel that says start/stop. gets the point across.

Oh, and don't forget the pre-attached, 2x 48" of 20awg wire with resistor (and RGB LEDs)  ;D

This is a ready-made solution. And while you certainly could do it yourself, why would you want to? He's done all the hard work for you and is only charging a nominal fee. Seems like doing it yourself would take you more time than it's worth (depending on how much you value your time. I value mine at ~$50/hour).

I just finalized the 4 styles last night.  I'll have them on the store by days end.

The first style will be the "classic" one pictured.  The rest will have the "PUSH FOR CREDIT" wording, with 1 having the 25 cent, another with the word "TOKEN" and the last one had to have a quarter graphic  ;D

Good choice for the wording options.  They look great, and if I end up building a cab w/o a coin door you can count on an order from me.

Keep up the great work and clever products,
Brian

Just wanted to drop a note saying that Blue and Green options are now available at the store in addition to the standard Red.  Amber is also a possibility down the road if there's a demand ( but you gotta let me know!  :) )

Thanks,

RandyT or anyone else:
Do you know if these replacement coin buttons will work with the type of coin door that "Rip" posted above (3rd post from the top, 2nd pic)?

I have a similar coin door.

Lol, I just checked GGG and you are already sold out.

These buttons are awesome dude. But I just need a few things before I buy one. First for them to be white like the Electric Ice buttons plus contain an RGB Led so that "I" can decide its color. This next one is not a requirement but it would be a great plus, to have them have the same hole size as a standard button 1-1/8".

This last one would be even more so awesome but also not a requirement, modify the graphics of the button into a circle and put it on the top of an electric ice button. I'd definitely buy it!

Question for Randy or anyone that could possibly answer:

About the Electric Ice buttons and trackball, could a brown type color be achieved with these items? I already have the electric ice but no led whiz. Perhaps a led whiz and some ice buttons are in my future if brown can be achieved.

Here is a cab that needs brown buttons...

If there was a combo product that is an "UNREAL coin door" plus a NovaGemCDR so that you can remove your coin door and replace it with another door with two builtin buttons, that would be freakin' awesome! :)  For extra credit, it would have some way to insert coins for player 3 and 4 as well (or maybe just have 4 buttons.)

Hmmmn - I'm not following what you are getting at here.

If you have a scratch-built cab, the Unreal Coin Door and NovaGems are a great option.

If you have a conversion cab, removing the mechs and adding NovaGems are probably simpler and more cost effective than buying a separate blank door to add the NovaGems to.   I can see the blank panel being nice, but think it's a limited market.

On the P3 and P4 options - for the 4-player games that need this, the easiest way to do it would be to map P3 Start to P3 Button 1 and the P3 Start button on the panel to P3 Insert Coin, like this page ...

The other option I haven't worked out (and I rarely get AHK to do what I need it to), but I'm sure someone could write an AutoHotKey script so that either:
  • Pressing the coin 1 button and releasing it within 4 seconds sent "5" and holding it for more than 4 seconds and releasing it sent "7"
  • Pressing the coin 1 button once sent "5" and pressing it more than once in a 1-second period (double-press) sent "7"

Hope This Helps!!!

I have to say that I have the UnREAL Coin Door and the CDR coin lights and it to me is the best!...
I couldnt afford a coin door...( damn things are too expensive) and I never was in the right time to find an old one to fix up...so I went to Randy and got these...

I love it... The lighting is great, hookup is a breeze and I have no complaints...

The unreal door is basiclly a vinyl sticker...I took 2 sheets of pexi and i used them to make sure the door is protected....I drilled the holes and mounted the pushbuttons...on my cab i routed the wood to make it where the door was flush ....Later on I bought some molding to go around the coin door to look nice...( not pictured below)... I HIGHLY recomend it for simple yet awesome cabs.....

How would I power these if using an xbox1 and a MC Cthulu? I also have a Zotac HTPC I might use but I would be unable to use anything but its USB.

The Vcc pin of the MC Cthulu will be 5V from the xbox 1 as it is plugged into the xbox controller port which is a modified USB port.   The Coin Drop unit requires 5V and Ground to power the LED.

I have a Mortal Kombat arcade machine and I'd like to turn the coin slots into push-buttons.  Would this be a good replacement?

They are not a bolt in replacement but with a little work they can be made to look as if they are part of the coin door.  Lots of examples of how they are used on real coin doors in this thread.   There is a template on the Groovy Game Gear site that will give you the exact measurement of the button and the hole required to mount it.

i saw these before my arcade died from a hdd crash.  i knew i needed to get these back then.  i moved out of my dad's place and have since gotten into a better financial situation.

I have been searching for these for 2 weeks solid via google.  these will be mine.

Since i want to be able to power down softly the machine, and not have the hdd die on me again, i've sent a request to see if instead of "push to reject" i can get a set that say power and reset.  i do not have the patience to use smart strips and set up that configuration.  these buttons will do great if they can sit in my traditional coin drop mounts.  if not i will mod them to fit.

if changing the text is not possible, i guess the next best question would be, can these be opened up to remove the graphic and create my own?

I hope to purchase your products very soon regardless of the outcome.
