You can unbolt it, pick it up, move it around, swap it into your new game, and call it dirty names, all without discharging it. Just don't go poking around under that suction cup and you'll be fine.
Now, if you get it hooked up and it doesn't work, then you'll have to discharge it before you do any work on the electronics, but that's a different story. Just swapping it is no problem.
