Perfect 360s
« on: March 04, 2003, 09:48:46 pm »
I would like to replace my Happ Super joysticks with Happ p360s. I have two questions to ask:

1) I need to know where to get the 5V to power each stick. I'm running a cabinet with a J-PAC. I have no clue where to begin with this.

2) Happ's website does not show the measurments of the stick. I'd like to know if the 4 holes for the bolts will line up with the existing holes my Supers use, I know that Competitions will.

1) There are many past posts about the p360, look them up.  You can get 5v from alot of places on a computer, like the USB port.

2)  Yep, jamma standards:)

I'd like to use the 5V pins on the J-PAC to power the perfect 360 josticks. I'm paranoid about being sloppy and having the ground pin make contact with the 5V pin. Does radio shack have a harness that'll easily plug into the pins? Also, should I connect the ground to the common ground for the other buttons or the the ground pin beside the 5V pins?

Thanks for your help.

You can do what I did:

Take one of the LED leads from the computer case, and use that to plug into the PAC..

Or..

Get a USB Cable and use the 5v from there.

Now with cup beer holders!

Or grab 5v from a spare disk-drive power cable (red for +5v, black for gnd).

...or you can even get 5v from a ps/2 (mouse/keyboard) port if you have one spare.

(search for usb / ps2 pinouts on google for the connections)

I don;t have 360s, BUT you aren't going to have a large glob of solder.  Then you could use heat shrink tube to cover the pins afterwords.
