Drivers for IPac
« on: May 22, 2006, 01:11:48 pm »
Hi,

I purchased the IPac 2-player from Ultimarc and can not get the drivers to work on Windows XP Media Center... I know the driver is supposed to be already loaded on the OS - it should just be the regular keyboard driver, right?  But whenever I plug the IPac in, I get an unkown device error... I've tried uninstalling, using different USB ports, using the PS/2 port...  Just won't work.

Does anyone know where I can download the driver or know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

so you have both the usb and ps/2 cable for it and neither one works?  I would try plugging it into another computer and see if it works because it sounds like you may have gotten a bad ipac.  Are you sure you connected the buttons correctly to the ipac?

Actually, this is an older version IPac.  I used to have an older PC in my cabinet but then I upgraded the PC after leaving my cabinet sitting around for half a year.  After upgrading the PC, I can't get the CP to work anymore, but it did work on the older PC when I was using that half a year ago.  The buttons are definitely connected correctly unless something has been jolted loose... I'll go check it out I guess... Damn is this frustrating.  I don't think there are any LEDs on the older IPac model I have, but I will check to see if there are because I know none of them are lighting up.

Nope - no LEDs on the older version... I'll have to try it on another computer.

if you use the Ps/2 port, it should have told you something is wrong when the machine is first turned on (No Keyboard etc...).

This may sound silly but i have seen people plug the PS/2 keyboard into the MOUSE Ps/2 port.

For the record green is always the mouse and the keyboard (depending on the age and brand of motherboard) is purple or sometimes red, especally on some old compaq or hp motherboards.

Hehe, thanks for the tips guys... I could easily see myself using the wrong PS/2 port, but I have my mouse plugged in through the said port so I definitely didn't make that mistake.  I'll e-mail you tonight, Andy - thanks for the response.

I tried removing all of the connections and starting fresh with a single connection -- no luck...

Andy - can you respond to my e-mail please?

An older I-PAC will have jumpers for USB or PS/2 modes, but one of them should work regardless of jumper settings.

Not much help, I guess.
