How much is a non-working Pacman cabinet worth?
« on: May 12, 2006, 09:02:07 am »
This cab seems to be in "okay" shape.  Sidework intact.  In desperate need of a good cleanup.  Seemingly working monitor.  Most likely probably non-working boards but they are in there.  Coin door in good shape.  Includes keys.

What would be a price you guys think would be fair for this?

Assuming the cabinet is in good shape I might pay $100 for it assuming everything was in there.

The guy wants $75 for it in nonworking form.  He has a working centipede (somebody painted the entire cabinet black - ugh!) that he says I could have for $75 as well.

Just wondering if that was a good deal or not.

Yep. That's a pretty good deal. It's a shame about the 'pede cab being painted, but if it's working, it's worth $75 just in gameplay value. And as for the Pac-Man, it might just be a minor fix and away you go!

Seems like a good deal.  I'd probably buy both PCB boards off you for a chunk of what you are paying even if they aren't working.  Aren't working would probably be prefered to some degree.  I just like to work on things, but for some reason I think there are people who pay even more then what I'd pay for non-working boards.

Let me know if you get them and want to sell the PCB's.

I would be surprising my wife by bringing home 2 cabinets if I were in your shoes.

And spending this weekend at a motel and next week in counseling.

Worth it in the end.  Get the cabs.

Dang, I wish I could find someone who is basically giving away arcade games... ::)

How well do you know the guy? If this is just a business venture for him, and he says 75 each, then offer him $100 total and see what he says. The worst he can say is no, and you still get them for $150. Odds are, he just wants to ditch them at that price.

Haggling, it's a wonderful thing.

If you can, get them both.  If the Centipede artwork is under the black paint, a little elbow grease will get it back.  Check out this recovery that I did - http://www.jhanson.com/arcade/centipede

dweebs0r:

That's a good deal on both.  I agree with previous poster - that Centipede artwork is probably still under there and recoverable if you have the patience.

You can get the Pacman board repaired for under $100 and a working Pacman cabinet with monitor is well worth $175.
