Ordering is now open for the BYOAC hats. Please read the HOW TO ORDER section below carefully as the orders need to be formatted in a particular way for me to keep a handle on organization.

The hat is available with the arcadecontrols.com URL on either the front (beneath the button logo) OR on the rear side. You'll need to specify your preference.

All hats have BYOAC on the right rear side, and the arcadecontrols.com URL on either the front or the left rear side. You will need to specify your preference for the URL placement in your order. You may also have your BYOAC ID (name) embroidered above the strap on back for an additional $5. All text on the hat is white. (If the putty hat is determined to be too light for white text, the type will be black).

The images below are rough mockups of what the actual hats should look like, so please forgive any wonky perspective or weirdness on the simulated logos and type on the back. The actual embroidered logo should have separation between the arms and body.

STRUCTURED HATS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN SOLID AND SANDWICH STYLES. See the images below for color and style info.

HOW TO ORDER:

Send PayPal using mitch@cutandrun.tv as the recipient. Feel free to use credit or debit cards if you do not have a PayPal account. PayPal is the ONLY form of payment.

Standard hat as shown in the first image below is $15.50
Structured hats are $21 as shown in the two catalog page images after the standard hats. Prices include 3-5 day first class shipping.

To add your BYOAC name ("handle") on back add $5.00

IMPORTANT: In the PayPal message area you MUST include the following info:

1) Hat color (putty, olive, khaki, navy or black)

see how in the pic Pixel posted, the front of the hat with the logo is flopping inwards?? A structured hat keeps the front part of the hat sticking up at all times.

Think a trucker hat or a normal baseball cap. If you sit it on a desk, the front will still look like a head is in it.

I'm hoping to wrap up orders on Aug 8. I would guess they'd ship out a couple weeks after that. It's 3-5 days for me to get them, a day or so to process, and 3-5 days for you to get them from there. These are all rough estimates.

OK, got info from the embroiderer on the fitted hats.

They are closed (solid) back, meaning no strap or opening, and have a structured "dome" so they stay rounded on or off your head. They come in two sizes S/M and L/XL. They are flex fit so they stretch a bit to accomodate variations in overall melon size.

They'll be available in sandwich style (with a white stripe along the edge of the bill) and in solid style (no stripe). I'll have color info posted later tonight or tomorrow.

Cost for either sandwich or solid is $21.00 shipped. This includes a $1.50 surcharge by me, since this is now becoming more complicated and time consuming to handle. So on these hats there is a small bit of profit going on!

There is no price change for the original unstructured styles. Those who have already placed an order but want to change to a structured hat will be able to do so. I'll post instructions for that with the color samples later.

I have a L/XL Flexfit hat and normally wear a 7 1/8 fitted hat size. The L/XL fits with almost no stretch on my head if I have my hair cut short (i.e. when it's really 7 1/8 lol).

I'd say that a 7 might work in a L/XL as well, but it might be a bit loose and have no stretch at all. A 7 or 7 1/8 could probably go either way depending on if they like their hats tight or loose. Above or below that should go with the different sizes.

Trying them on would be best though if you can swing by a mall or something.

Delivery update:

I am waiting on examples of final stitch patterns from the embroiderer. After that production can begin. I apologize for the delays. Last go round suffered a similar lengthy production time so I guess it's no surprize.

Well I paid for mine in July, so I don't think asking in November what the status of the hats are is really being that impatient. I don't think a lot of people (including myself) realized how long custom hats take to make. I had hoped to wear mine to the Dallas vgXpo in August, the Chi-Town Classic (in October), and the multiple videogame auctions I've gone to this summer/fall. Now I'm hoping it'll be here in time for the next Dallas SuperAuctions (Dec 10th).

I agree. It's frustrating me as well. I think in the future I will use a different embroiderer, or get a firm delivery date commitment before ordering.

In any case these custom things do take a while to get completed. Tokens for example are just arriving now.The hats are absolutely happening. They are being embroidered by an individual (not a big company).... the upside being I get very tight control over quality and detail, the downside being that I have to deal with an individuals's schedule.

That said I certainly understand people's frustration with the timetable and asking for updates is always welcome either in this thread or through PM. I've emailed the embroiderer again today and will post his reply.

FWIW, these types of waiting periods have happened for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that's been a "BYOAC-branded item" around here. Do a search for the t-shirts. If the wait wasn't a problem, the merchant was

Check out both token threads. Check out the last hat thread. For cryin' out loud, look at the holdup for SAINT'S BOOK! Things happen, and while not helping anyone's outlook, it hasn't been confined to these hats alone.

As long as the requests for updates remain civil, as they have been, small product runs of BYOAC-branded items will continue to be a wicked-cool niche item only a select few of us swanky types can buy.

The BYOAC ass hats I ordered for Stingray and Chad have been in production now for almost a year. We're lucky Pixel's hats will be done before then

Just heard back from the embroiderer.

Hold up has been availability of the putty hats. We agreed to get them from a different vendor since the existing order wouldn't have come in until mid december on backorder. So that's the last hurdle. He should have them in hand monday and will stitch and ship them the same day. That means I'll get them later that week and I'll ship them out immediately for 3-5 day delivery.

If you're in a hurry, I suggest trying what Chadtower suggested. He was right on the money -- there was a guy at the mall who made me a custom hat for $15. It took 10 minutes, and nothing was misspelled. I'm still looking forward to my BYOAC hat, but this one will suffice until the other arrives.

Where's the pic that Pixel did on there? You got rooked. He told you those flames were gonna just "blend in" with Pixel's button.

All I've EVER seen at those places near me were some hats that looked like ass (asshats, perhaps?) and the level of customization was "whatever letters you want me to put on it dood".

OK. I have good news and bad news and then more good news.

Good news is that the structured hats, putty hats and one khaki hat are done and on their way to me.

Bad news is that the other hats aren't yet on there way due to yet another embroidery mistake.

Which leads me to the other good news...
The embroiderer has reordered the affected hats and has agreed to send the originals as well. So anyone with an affected hat can get an extra free (actually for the extra shipping if significant).

The extras will not have custom names on them.

The mistake was minor - while stitching the BYOAC side, the straps were stitched into place. This means those hats can be adjusted smaller but not larger without cutting the strap to release it. According to the embroiderer this won't affect the majority of people (only "extreme large" has been... errrr... disabled.)

What I inferred from that info is that if you had a structured hat, a putty hat, or the khaki hat, the mistake wasn't done to those items, therefore, there is no mistake to make amends for.

Stingray won't be getting 2 pink hats

Yeah, the structured hats, putty hats and one khaki hat are all fine. There are no duplicates of those. Hopefully I'll get these monday and can ship them out.

The rest of the hats (including the other 8 khaki hats) all have a matching "shorter strap" duplicate that is available free to those whose hats were messed up. Once I can get the exact shipping price I'll post here. Anyone with a matching freebie can paypal the extra shipping cost, reference their BYOAC ID, and I'll add the hat to their shipment. These hats will be a week or two behind the others. No paypals until I get final shipping costs please.

So if you got a structured hat or a putty hat there is no matching freebie. I'm not sure at this point whose khaki hat is fine and in transit.
