For what it's worth. I was running the software on a AMD Sempron machine. It crashed fairly frequently.

I switched to a whole new computer using an intel - and it's working flawless.

Time to awaken this again...Barcrest has been working hard on a ton of updates...he's sans internet right now, but I'm passing this along to you guys:

From Freeboxjukebox.com:
Quote from:
WOW! I took the source code home last night to have a play and tidy it up and all i can say is WOW! The speed of browsing the album covers cannot be made any faster, i refuse to see any way it can be quicker than it is now. The page flicks are instant now...

It turned out decades was not quite working but i fixed that up, however i still need to look at the jump to album code and tidy up the config.exe to get that working correctly. I still don't have the web at home and i don't have the FTP settings with me so i might have to upload this one via rapid share. Maybe Ninja or someone will grab it and put it on the site after i have uploaded it...

Stay tuned, i am sure you will be impressed.

AFAIK, all features that had stopped working are now working again

Link to updated files:

http://www.freeboxjukebox.com/files/beta/freebox_test.zip

Just unzip these into your existing installation.  Back it up first in case you want to revert back!!!!

* NinjaEpisode Smacks McCoy for not keeping him on the ball.

BUG: 12 Cover view would not work (Fixed)
BUG: Covers were not shown if there was no Album Title (FIXED)
BUG: Incorrect Album Covers were shown on last page (FIXED)
BUG: If the last page had less than the total number of albums to be shown it went screwy (FIXED)
BUG: It would not blank out spare covers on the last page (FIXED)
BUG: The last page was not calculated correct (FIXED)
BUG: You could go to page -1 (FIXED)
BUG: You could past the last page (FIXED)
BUG: It would redraw the covers if they had not changed on the first/last page (FIXED)
BUG: If you selected a track but didn't play it, then it stayed higlighted (FIXED)

CHANGED: The drawing of the covers screen is now 3x faster

ADDED: PAUSED displayed over small now playing window when music is paused.

BUG: Track legnths don't scroll with the track list (FIXED)
BUG: You could restart the track while jukebox was paused without unpausing using keyboard shortcuts (FIXED)
BUG: Track legnth stayed highlighted if you played or added tack to queue (FIXED)
BUG: Jump to start on the jump to letter pad didn't work (FIXED)

BUG: Back button didn't take you back to the search screen (FIXED)
The back button works as it should, there is a large NEW SEARCH button to take you back to preform a new search. All BACK Buttons take you back to the album view as designed.

BUG: In queue if you clicked where the was no song and clicked remove it crashed. (FIXED)
This was incorrect behaviour as the buttons should not have even been shown in this case. See fix bellow...

BUG: Click on an empty queue entry and the play now, next and queue buttons still show (FIXED)

ADDED: Now shows track legnths on the track selection screen.
ADDED: Quick Jump Thumbnails are back.

A quick update for any of you the don't check our site. I have now added command line support to the config app so you can build your databases using a command line. The benefit of this means you can schedule it to do this every night so it will pick up any new albums you may have added that day automatically, obviously it will also remove any albums you have taken off. This is and ideal set up if you have your juke on a network...

  • I'm a llama!
your software keeps getting better and better, saw a couple things, if on the album display screen,  12 covers display is selected the artist and album names are not shown on the cd icon, but if 6 are chosen it displays fine.

Also would like to see maybe that (page 1/100) on the album selection screen moved up so its not cut off or removed altogether. Also the page forward and page back buttons it would be cool if they could be replaced with an option with a scroll bar with the button on it being the letter of the section its at. If this is possible with your skinning tool or in the future that would be nice.

The track selection screen when an artist has more than one cd it has little icons of the other albums, when you select one of the small other album icons it goes to the other albums track selection page..... The artist has other albums since you just came from one of theirs, but the only album icon on this new track page is the one your at, it doesn't show the refering album cover icon.   Also if you go to say cd #2 from a band it wont show as having any other albums for that band in the album icon listing. But if you choose cd #1 from the band it shows the other multiple album icons ...

When no songs are in the queue and random play is enabled, when a person chooses a choice it would be nice if maybe the random play is interupted and the song on the queue is played.

hope that makes some sort of sense

Just some suggestions other than it kicks some major ass keep up the good work

The last couple of releases have since fiexed the label issue on the 12 covers display. So hopefully if you have 1.9.38 you should be fine on that.

As for a scroll bar, i know how you want it to work but it's not as easy as it sounds. Because once it is at a letter you still need to be able to go forwards and backwards through the library. It is something i am lookint at and i will hopefully get something in there soon.

The album shortcuts (Ah you caught me)... Yes this is a bit bodged in at the moment and you are correct it doesn't show exactly as it should. It only looks forward in the database and not back and this is the problem. I will also be looking at fixing this soon.

I will make the random song cut off an option for you in the next release.

Glad you like the software, Thanks fot the feedback.

Does this play acc or protected acc files??  I know viewtunes can so I am hoping it is possible.  If it can I will support your great efforts and this most excellent program.

In a word no. I could probably make it play unprotected ones but i am not sure how the tags work on AAC files.

Ok i had to do it... I added TEXT only views to the album browsing as they are much quicker than browsing covers. Using this flicking 36 albums at a time i think this is as quick as scrolling but without the problems i personally have with scrollbars. This is coupled with the jump to letter button means and also the quick view showing all albums by an artist once you have picked one should mean you can find an album in a couple of clicks.

V2.0 is availble on the website along with other new additions like genre support.

IF you can mail me an AAC file to test i will have a go for you. I suspect i can play them but you would have to tag them with the NON-MP3 tagging tool as i don't think i can read the tags out of them

just wanted to let you know this program was a hit at my New Years party 30+ people not one problem with a mounted touchscreen lcd on the wall running your program. Only thing i noticed is that if you put the volume down it only does it for the song playing when the next song plays the volume jacks back up but the volume slider still shows lowered volume.... keep up the great work man

Dude, the volume issue is actually not an issue.

The slider on the main screen controls the volume for user selected songs and will also set the volume for the song that is currently playing. Random songs that are picked by the juke when the queue is empty use a seperate volume setting in the options screen and this is why you noticed the change in volumes.

Glad you found the software useful, i just released a new version today. You'll find it in the usual place  ;D

I lost your AAC file  My memory stick went blank transfering it home. I think all i need to do is AAC to the file path so i will do this tonight and release a test version for you. I will PM you the link tomorrow and you can let me know how you get on.... Like i said i will not be able to read the tags from this filetype though so you would have to used beta tag to create non mp3 tag files...

Don't worry about sending me a test version, I don't have the time to look at it right now.  If you can't read the tags than don't bother with it.  Thanks for trying though, your software is really nice.  I just wish I didn't import everything into AAC on my computer, I love iTunes though.  I just wish there was away to make your jukebox work with iTunes some how.
I b**ch. People listen!!
