escape button and pause button HELP!
« on: June 30, 2005, 10:40:24 am »
hey guyz im on my final part of my cab now!

everything works on the cabinet except the escape button and pause button which ive wired on 2 seperate buttons on the outside of the cab.

in the i-pac configuration tool it already has my escape button configured to button "V" and my pause button to button "C". I tried changing these buttons from V to ESC and C to P but they wont work.

I want to do it this way cos I have 2-3 other emulators on there for Sega Genesis and also SNES and both these worked well as P and ESC.

anyone know how to program Ipac to when i press ESC it will ESC and when i press P it will pause insted of pressing C for pause and C for ESC.

hope u will understand :-\

if you have succeded to re-program the Ipac to "V" and "C", just do the same thing. I have an older model and I need to make sure that the JUMPER is in the right place. Dunno about newer models if this exist apply.
Usually what I do also, is just I edit the IPAC???.cfg and edit it manually to the keys I want then I just re-program it using the batch mode.

I don't think he reprogrammed it, I think he has Pause wired to 1Switch7 and Escape wired to 1Switch8 and is using the defaults.

yes one is wired to 1SW7 and the other to 1SW8, I then go to the IPAC programer and tell it that i want 1SW7 to be ESCAPE (esc) and 1SW8 to be PAUSE (p) once i program it i save it and check it, once ipress the buttons they dont go blue. I then try to program the buttons again but this time i press the actual cab buttons and it configures them as C and V.

Ive now configured mame to use C and V but cant find the other emulators settings so I can change esc and pause for them to C and V.

so I thought its better to program the IPAC to work with ESC and P isntead of configuring all the emulators to work with other buttons!

if anyone knows please help!

When you say you "save" the settings, are you actually using the "Program" button in the lower right corner, or are you just using the save config button in the lower left corner?

Did you read and follow the links I posted above.  How are you programming it?  (There are three (Microsoft) versions of the I-PAC software and a stand-alone keyboard method.)
