I just got a steal of a deal
« on: June 07, 2005, 06:45:09 pm »
I was browsing the HardOCP forums last week and clicked on a guys for sale thread.  Low and behold, he had an Act Labs PC USB Light Gun for sale.  The cost....  20 bucks shipped.  I couldnt believe it.  Now I hold it in my hands and feel invigorated.  And amused at how small it is.  Needs a custom paint job thats for sure.  Man what a steal.

Put it in a safe deposit box, I hear the price is going up to $300 soon.  :P

You bring up something that I've never liked about those things- they are tiny.

Yeah they are very small.  I wish it was just a bit heavier.  I'm curious as to what the next Act Labs light gun will look like.

After a few long rounds of House of the Dead II, I'm glad it's on the light side...

As far as painting the guns: I have two guns, so I painted the removable back sections with metal flake automotive touch-up paint:

Nice job Chris.  Hey, does your left side button rattle a bit when the gun is shaken lightly?  Mine seems a tad loose, but the button reacts easily regardless.

Good job on the good deal you got!

this may seem a little off topic, but has anyone ever heard of interfacing a cabinet light gun with a MAME PC for an arcade monitor?

I hope they come out with a gun that resembles a .357 MAG!!!
Over my window they'd written my name,
Saying so long and see you again.

Actually I did offer the guy more for it.  However he said he got it for that price and felt like he should sell it for what he had  in it.  But he was gouging people for the rest of his stuff heh.

Speaking of that, has anyone figured out a way to get both guns to work at the same time in house of the dead 2?  The player one gun works perfectly, offscreen reloads and all, but the game itself only allows you to select one 'mouse/lightgun' intput (the other has to be joystick or keyboard).
