Defender...
« on: March 12, 2005, 12:17:56 pm »
Any way to get (mame) Defender to set to free play??  I've been trying to figure out how to do it, since there doesn't seem to be a dip switch setting.  I'd like to set my defender on free play so that the kids will stop yelling every time it runs out of credits...

Back for nostalgia, based on nostalgia.

Assuming you're running MAME couldn't you just configure the start button to also provide the coin drop?

(or heck, the fire button for that matter--REALLY run up those credits!)

this is where a secret button comes in handy, so they just use it themselves but not others (who don't know about it).

On Stargate and Robotron (other Williams games), you hit F2 on your keyboard to bring up the admin menus.  I got both of mine set on freeplay.  On Stargate, there was actually a 'yes or no' question for freeplay.  On Robotron, you have to set the number of lives to freeplay.  This should work for Defender.
