What is the best way to Break-In a Wico Joystick?
« on: March 01, 2005, 08:15:15 pm »
All of the wico joysticks I've bought are way too stiff, most of the ones I've  played on recently in the arcades are allot looser.  I figure it is probably because mine are NOS so they haven't really been broken in yet.  What is the best way to make the Rubber Gromit not feel quite so stiff other than just tons and tons of use?

Send me the new NOS rubber grommet and I'll return to you a nicely broken in one.  I'll even throw in money for shipping.

By the way, I'm spraying silicone on all my Wico rubber grommets.  It will keep them from drying out.  If they dry out they will crack and eventually fail.  The can I use says it preserves rubber and keeps it from drying out.  I disasemble the sticks and spray both sides.  2 coats letting it dry in between.  The rubber then looks fresh (wet).

The ones you've played on in the arcades aren't "broken in", they're just broken.  They're supposed to feel that stiff.  If you don't like it,  I'll be the 2nd user to volunteer to trade you some old grommets for yours!  Please?!

Are you guys sure the stiff ones aren't because the rubber has hardened over time?

Earth stages of GYRUSS... :P

Mine are all NOS and were fine until I went to an auction and played a bunch of games. Now they seem stiff. I'm just gonna keep playing until they wear out!
