playchoice power supply question
« on: February 28, 2005, 08:48:00 pm »
HI, I am restoring a nintendo playchoice single monitor game. I need a power supply. Is the playchoice power supply unique or is there another nintendo power supply that I can use in place? (Popeye? Vs?) I have been having trouble locating a "playchoice" power supply so I might have to either use a compatable replacement or customize one.  thanks, Steve

if you need a Nintendo PS, I have one. Its the one with the 100Vac and 110 VAC. I can take a pic if so.

I saw one on eBay!  Its a power supply for Nintendo vs.  Search on eBay under Collectables -> Arcade, Jukebox, whatever -> Arcade.  Dont remember the price though

Hm. Somehow I doubt that it is any different that the usual +5 -5 +12 power supplies that are such common fare nowadays... Have you located a manual and / or schematics for a Playchoice yet?

are we talking about a PS that has the 5v, 12v etc...or are you talking about PS for Nintendo Monitor ?
If so, you can just buy those PS for around $35.00 or so but if its a
Nintendo Monitors, it wants 100vac not 110-120vac carefull before you blow up the monitor.

It has some odd-ball 24 or 36 volt output on one pin but that is only to incriment the mechanical coin counter and you could just ditch that or if you must, replace it with a 12v unit.

Thanks for the help guys. I did some more research. I found several schematics and manuals for the playchoice 10, however, the only ones I could find are for the dual monitor version. I need to run a single nintendo monitor. The power source model is PP-1000A (again, for dual monitor). I found the power source pinout at  http://basementarcade.com/arcade/library/manuals/p/pch1-up.pdf
take a look at page 22 on the pdf file.
Thanks, Steve
