New Mini Cabs
« on: January 23, 2005, 09:19:24 pm »
This weekend I had my first "warehouse score" that a local buddy let me in on, and I got a couple of these mini kid-size cabinets.  (yay!)  My buddy took two as well, but one was already fully wired, had a brand new monitor and coin door, but they never finished it!  That would be an EASY one to set up.

They are both brand new, never had a whole cut in the panels, no locks or coin doors fitted, etc.  They are made really slick, set up to take plexi and the speaker panel and the CP hold it in, so no visible fasteners are needed. (CP has two latches underneath like standard CP's).  They have cheesy gold T-molding that still has the protective blue plastic attached.

I am going to fix one up with Mame for some of the real young kids in my family.  Probably will put TMNT and Simpsons on there, with a single illuminated button that will switch between the games.

I have some pretty good ideas for this one, but I'm open to suggestions.  I'd prefer just about any other color than the bright red.  But it's laminate so I'm not going to paint over it.  I'd like some ideas for artwork and such.  I think the vector library has some good Simpsons and TMNT I could probably modify to use on this cab.  I want to put two joys and 2 buttons each, for a 2-player setup.

The other one, I'm not sure about, but I know I want to get rid of it.  I will probably set it up similarly to the one I'm keeping and try to sell it.

Just wanted to share, and gloat a little about my score! ;)

I'm within driving distance, but not really.  I'm in Charleston, WV.  About 3 hours south of Pittsburg, PA, or about 5 hours from DC.

Since they're already bright red, maybe you could make a mini Neo-Geo MVS out of one of them. That would be nothin' but super-nifty in my less than humble opinion. :)

very very cool.  When you said bright red, the first thing that popped in my head too was mini NeoGeo.  That's what I'd do with the other one anyway.

Nice find.

I see you still have the Virtua Racing Cab.  I'm still looking for one!

I think a neo-geo would be cool too, but it it probably wouldn't make good sense if I am trying to sell it.
