Splitting Hairs RE PC Power
« on: November 23, 2004, 01:09:48 pm »
Simple question: what games will NOT run on a 3 GHz P4 with HT tech and 512 MB,

but WILL run on a 3.2 GHz P4 with the same memory?

I'm seeing a very good deal on the former system on Dell, whereas I had been holding out hope for the latter.

Please refrain from "why don't you just use XXXX instead?" I just wanna know about this difference above. Thanks much.

95% of the CHD games won't run, and .5% of the rest of the games (such as Cruisin' USA and the same type).

I assume you're asking about Mame, right?

yeah, that's right.

So, for example, would NFL Blitz run on Either of these?

I wonder if its the girl with the Banana and if so, is the Banana being used here ?   ::)

LOL!!! Fantastic!

..ahem...

More power doesn't mean you can run "everything"... in some cases the emulation just isn't done enough yet.

NFL Blitz and a couple other games (like Carnevil, Tekken, etc...) are real killers.

Which sucks.

My cab is a 2ghz, and that should CRUSH Blitz.  :P

Nope.  The emulation, IIRC, is perfect, but there isn't a machine fast enough (yet) that will do it.

Oh, and I changed my avatar again, you should refresh your caches!

In that case I'll bite the bullet on the 3.0 GHz. Thanks, guys--this PC is $150 less than I budgeted, so the project is in the black!
