Which visually attractive games do you usually leave on when company comes by?

I'm not looking for your favorite game in this post, I'm looking for the most attractive or active, while NOT being played.

Right now I usually leave on one of my favorites 'Robotron' it is mildly attractive/active, but it doesn't really 'do it' for anyone who is not into Robotron.

I haven't really played many of the newer ones (past '85) so I'm guessing that's where the good ones are.

Dragon's Lair or Space Ace.

Mute it or set the audio to "Once every 8 cycles" tho.

I just came accross a game called Blazeon (I think) that has a really cool intro.

I sometimes load it up, just to let the attrict mode run.

One game in the darkstalkers/vampire series has a very good intro with awesome music, but the others have a simple dumb repeating "beep  beep beep bop beeep beep bop" and a shorter intro, i'll look into it again, I forget which one it is all the time.

Uo Poko has a nice attract mode.

I'll bet if you saw Aztaracs attract mode on a real vector monitor that you would just about wet your pants.  :police:

Tell me about it. I sold my TMNT conversion because it drove me nuts.

I'm sure I would.  Nearly did when I saw the bullets in Asteroids  :o

Sometimes I'll catch myself playing Space War (playing for both players) for long periods of time, just because it is so cool looking.

Normal people are amazed by vector monitors these days, they have forgotten them, and forgotten what they looked like.

Although the color vectors are cooler games, the black and white vectors are more vectory, if that makes any sense.

I'm ashamed to say it but I never even saw a real vector arcade game until a few years ago.  They'd probably all been dumped from the arcades I went to by the time I was old enough to know what games are :(

I think they're awesome :)

How old are you minwah? I saw vector games on location as late as 1991 (which was when they converted the Asteroids at the skating rink into Final Fight).

My Star Wars cockpit had a 1996 tax sticker on it.

More recently I have seen a Tempest on location (last year).

I saw my first vector game a few years ago as well.  Asteriods!  I was in awe of the beauty :)  The Asteriods vector monitor, I think, had something wrong with it.  The ship itself was really, really bright, while the meteorites were very dim.  I also played Tempest at the same location.  It was an arcade entitled "flashbacks" and many older classic games.  Very cool stuff.  8)

25...but I think the problem was more that the arcade's I went to were crap!  Then again, I can't say I've ever been to a really good arcade in the UK - most of them are/were generic-jamma cab central...

But jeez, Final Fight in an Asteroids cab?!

I know of a working Asteroids Deluxe and a semi-working Star Wars on location right now!

Vectors were worthless in 1991. Cheaper to buy a brand new monitor and put a new kit in the game than it would be to sell the game for $100 and then have to buy a new cabinet.

Also, lot of times an op would rather convert an existing machine than turn around to a new one, as a new one requires a new tax sticker.
