I have updated the installer using a different program.

Uninstall what you have done already.

Download both the VB6 runtimes AND installer (so, 3rd & 1st link).  Run them in that order (I'm assuming you ran the installer in the first place, and didn't just use what was in the update file).  It should be that simple!

hi sk thanks for your reply but still no luck the only thing i can think of is on the comp that works i have a ATI card and on the one that doesn't i have a nvidia card maybe somethink to do with the drivers ?. also when i run the vb runtime installer i get a msg saying "do i want to install " i click yes then a window opens that says copying files then it closes and thats all nothing to say that it installed ok?.just wondering if that was right  or arnt the vb runtimes installing properly

Very, very strange.  Tell you what, download this file :

Extract it to the directory you have SK Jukebox installed to, then run the program.  That SHOULD tell me exactly where the program is failing.  Just let me know the exact error message, and it should give me a clue. *fingers crossed!*

I have read alot of good reviews of your Jukebox program and decided to try it out. Unfortunately I am having a problem with an error message.

I am sure it is just a configuration problem on my end but any assistance would be appreciated.

It does help, but I'm not exactly sure what to think.  At that point, it is creating the connection to MsgHook.dll.  I guess the first thing to try is search your PC for any copy of that file that might be causing a conflict.  An older version might be causing problems.  The current installer will have that file in the same directory as the executable.

The 2nd thing to try is to manually register that DLL by clicking Start -> Run, then put in there :

regsvr32 (path-to-skjb)\MsgHook.dll

Manually registering it should work, but it's still a mystery as to why it isn't registering in the install.

I have a fairly large collection and I don't want to have to go through and sort everything into its own album folder. Right now I just get the first 99 tracks of my X:music folder. Other than that your software does everything I would want in a juke program.

You could try Tag&Rename.  That program certainly gets a huge workout on my PC, and there should be an option in there to help you with this.

I understand that this is not a very general urpose request, but I would love to see a way to display a custom "instruction card" picture: since I use SK jukebox on an aracde cabinet,  the controls are not especially obvious.

Ideally the "pause" key would bring up the picture, this way this would match the panel viewer that buddabing added to MAME. Another way to do it would be to show it instead of/in alternance with the track list (maybe move the track list as scrolling text below the song progress if we loos that area?)

I'll still use SK Jukebox without that feature, but it never hurts to ask.

If you used the Uninstall feature, then this could have happened.

I have recently changed from the MS installer to a new system, and I have TOTAL control over what is installed / uninstalled.  The .ini file is NOT included in the new uninstall, so it won't happen again.

Point 2 is a good one, so I'll add it to the list.  The amount of times I load up the program only to hit 'R' is uncountable   

Point 1 is the tricky one.  It has been brought up before, and is by no means easy.  In fact, I'll go so far to say that it will never happen.  The way the program is already coded would make this a nightmare to add.  Sorry to say, but I just don't see a way of adding this in!  I'll add it to the 'Long Term' list, but that could mean I won't look at it till next year.    As with every other suggestion / request, I'll certainly have another look at it, but don't hold your breath!!

Was that actually a requested feature?  What kind of album has over 99 songs on it, other than something like a sound effects CD?

Compilations that people create for themselves, mainly.

In my case, recordings of our church choirs collected over several years, would qualify.

I think the original train of thought was things like collecting hits from a given decade and putting them in one folder....thus one 'album'.  Since SK Jukebox doesn't use ID3 tags, the word 'album' is open to interpretation.

Exactly my response to the 5 or 6 people who have brought it up! 

I held off doing it for a long time, but decided that I don't like placing limitations on the software if I don't have to.  Of course, sometimes these limitations are required for time / reasonability / etc, and this one DID take a bit of work to get around.

In the end, if it can reduce the e-mails I get that start 'Hey, love the program, but...', that's a good thing

Whats the chances you could add an adjustable equalizer.
And just another note-When volume is set below 100% and the program is shut down and restarted with songs in the Que  you have to hit the end button to equal out the balance, I thought maybe it was just my machine that caused this, But I put it on a brand new machine with windows xp fresh out of the box and it does the same thing on that machine too.Still the best program I have found yet. Thanks Salmon-King its the greatest.

WOW! an awesome program kudos to you! (and as soon as I have some $ in Paypal a donation will be coming to you also).

It has already replace VMJ in my jukebox since it does all the stuff I have wanted VMJ to do for a while (multiple genres selected easily, integrated screensaver, easier music management, etc etc).

I do have a couple of quirks I have discovered... 

First when booting it will be in an empty genre (just four "no cover" pictures) and then if I hit genre and try to select the first one in the list it will just stay in the empty one.  If I switch to a different genre and then switch back it works fine then.

Secondly and not that important - If I exit and come back and it continues playing the song its fine - but when I enter a genre (Ie using the above method) it drops the left audio channel for the duration of the current song.  You can just skip it and everything is fine.

Thanks to you as well for the feedback!   

If you are using genres, it should be displaying the genre list automatically when the program starts.  There should be no need for hitting the genre key to get it initially.  Perhaps I messed something up with it recently, I'll check it out.

As per the post just before yours, I had that happen to me once, so I'll check that out again too.

Ok I just added SKJB to my stand alone juke and it is AWESOME, a term much over-used on this forum but in this case totally applicable.

I also had a funny quirk with the balance, this only occurred on the first track played (went if I skipped to the next title) and was drastic enough that it was tripping the cut out on my sub amps, weird huh?

Massive improvement over VMJ, why did I want a skin with lots of chrome? My cabinet has that and the clean lines of this prog set it off perfectly.

Still would love an equaliser and mpeg support but it is GREAT, thanks again.

Is your program eventually gonna have video support? I can't complain about it since it is free, just thought adding video would be pretty awesome. I own virtual music jukebox but I don't think it is as good as your program. I don't like how they only give you three keys for it when you pay for it. I bought it I should be able to put it on every computer I own. I own 3 PC's and I'm not about to shell out more money to put it on the other two PC's. It is also buggy as hell. Anyone reading this thread and is wanting to get a jukebox program, save your money and go with this one. Also one more request? I'm sure you have heard this a hundred times, are you gonna make this skinable? Thanks for the awesome program. We need more guys like you around here
