Where can I find Wico 8-Way Joysticks?
« on: November 08, 2004, 08:29:09 am »
Does wico still carry their heavy duty 8-way leaf switch joystick?  I see that on their website they have them listed as $12.99.  But all of the third party distributors I've found sell them for $25-35.  What

everyone is selling it for 25-30 and WICO sells it for 13, and you are asking where tog get one for a resonable price. Comparing those two proces, WICO seems has already a resonable price  ;D

You're missing the point.  I don't think Wico makes/carries them any more.  I think they're still on their site in the 'old' catalag, but that's it.  If they're still being made, I wanna know about it.

If you found it on their site by Googling, then it's likely from the old catalog.  Go through their website from the main page and then go find the joysticks... if they aren't there, they ain't carryin them!

I didn't google.  I went to their site clicked on the catalog, then clicked on the pricing option.  Searched for the model number I'm looking for 15-945401 and it had $12.99 by it.

I've heard they stopped making them, but I've also read in many reviews people saying they bought them for $10-15 each.  So, I want to know where I can get them for that price.

Since these aren't made anymore I doubt you are going to find anything less than the $20 range. But check out eBay, you might get lucky.

Used ones are usually still in usuable shape. I have owned dozens of these  and only had a couple that were totally shot.

As long as the rubber grommet is fine then you can just replace the leafs and they are good as new.

I've checked ebay all I can find New is 4-way's for $25 each.  I don't even see any used ones on ebay if i just search for wico.  I'm not really concerned about the leaf switches.  I have some P360 adapters to put on them instead.  I don't mind it being a little used as long as it is in good condition.

Yeah, I know but they are $35.  Thats alot for a joystick.  I could get happ competition joysticks for $10, or a pac-man joystick for $20.  $35 just seems a-bit high for a joystick.

Goz: That's awsome!! PM me and maybe we can work something out!

How do you judge the condition of the grommet, without opening up the joystick housing?

I have a few Wico joys, and most feel alright in my opinion, but one of them feels real stiff in comparison the the rest.

If one direction is alot easier to move in than the others, it usually means that the rubber on the grommet is ripped on the opposite side from that direction.

Other than that, you really need to open the stick and check.

You CAN'T search for wico, you sort of have to manually dig through listings for joysticks and control panels in order to find them.

Also, stay the heck away from the NEW 4-way ones, they are a terrible repro with crappy leaf switches and it is a mix of of 8-way and 4-way parts.

Are these Wico 8 way leaf joysticks the ones with the longer handles so that they can be mounted in wood?

 Thanks
