Good way to get 12v power for Coin Doors lights, etc

This seems like a pretty easy way to get 12v DC for coin door lights, a trackball light, or whatever you need it for (and to get 5v and 7v DC as well).

You could always cut the wires on the second 12v plug and run it to your power switch header on your motherboard so you could mount a power switch on your cab).

I made something like this for my cabinet a few months ago. I took an old PCI slot blanking card and drilled to holes in it, put two k-size DC power jacks (Radioshack number 274-1565) in it, wired one set up to 12v on a power supply header, and the other to a spare plug for the prongs on the motherboard for the power supply. So then I could connect the lights and a button each to a matching k-size plug (Radioshack number 274-1569). This seemed like one of the cleanest ways to do it.

I always just tap the power from inside the case and shoot it out the back of the case, there are usually some holes or gaps on the back side to run the power out.

Yeah, just cutting and extending one of the HD/Fan power cords is the easiest way to go, why botherr with anything else...

for $5.00 is a ok but for FREE is even better.

I use a unused ps2/mouse (the old ones that was on a bracket) connector and splice it to the 5/12 volts then I use another ps2/mouse cord for the outside splice with the female connector 5/12volts.  This setup powers up my coin door 5v lights and the 12v cooling fan attach on the back door to keep the inside cabinet somewhat cooler.

I'm still finishing some of my wiring so I have to pull my computer in and out every now and then, so the plugs have been a help, easier to deal with with one hand than the molex connectors (have my computer mounted backwards in the cab, and almost wedged between the side of the cab and the coin door) and this way if something catches on those wires in the cab then there's no way of pulling something inside the computer out of it.

But nobody really sees the inside of the cab anywho.
