Switch used on coin mechs
« on: October 18, 2004, 01:35:27 pm »
Hey all,

I'm going to try to describe this the best I can, so please forgive me if this comes out really confusing.  I ordered some modified mechs that would accept coins of different sizes...the mechs work great.  The problem I am encountering now is that one of my microswitches (the ones that attach to the coin door that register the coin drop), the little metal bar that physical moves when the coin is dropped is to long...essentially it works fine with quarters, but if I drop one of the BYOAC tokens into it, the token is to large and gets stuck with the bar held down.  The real question is...is this something that is easily modified? or is it easier to just purchase a new microswitch that will accomodate the token size?  I haven't played around much with the switch itself, so I didn't know if this is something that can be adjusted, or cut, or resized.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.  Thanks  :)

If you were to trim the lever (the part that the coin hits) down a bit, would a quarter still hit it? if so, then that would be a quick solution as long as you don't plan on using anything smaller than a quarter.

try bending( fool around with it) it a bit. bend it towards/outwards/inwards/backwards etc...eventually you may hit the good spot.

This is common. Just get two pairs of needle nose pliers and slowly bend the microswitch actuating wire until the new coin clears properly.
