Problems with the Perfect 360
« on: September 15, 2004, 05:06:18 am »
Last week I received my buttons and two P360 joysticks from Happ. One of the joysticks was
missing an e-ring so Happ sent me a replacement. Well the replacement arrived today but after hooking it up to my Ipac4 I found that 'down' was not registering. I tested it in mame and then in notepad and it's just dead. The other directions work fine. I tried to troubleshoot the problem by using a different wire, checking continuity with a multimeter, hooking the joystick up to the Player 1 terminals on the ipac and pretty much any other variation on setup I could think up. Basically I was able to rule out the wiring and the ipac as the source of the problem. So my question is this; Has anyone else run into this sort of problem? Is there a solution or cause that I'm not aware of? Or do I get to wait another week for a second RMA?  ???

BTW, I am connecting to the 5v and GND lines on the optipac for power.
thanks
Alright. it's saturday night; I have no date, a full bottle of Shasta and my all Rush mixtape....Let's ROCK!!

so easy to test it if you think the 360 is no good. Just take the wire thats hook up to the DOWN and hook it up to the UP (that one works) and see if it registers. If it does not, then 360 is bad.

I sent 3 back for a refund.  I believe that the hole in the plastic is too small for the eye of the optics.  I tried drilling one out a bit.  It got better, but they are pretty expensive not to work out of the box....

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the advice though. Assuming the second replacement works that will make about 60 dollars I've spent on one p360 (if you count the cost of shipping the duds back to them). Not such a great deal  :'(

Happs will send you a prepaid ups label so you don't pay for return shipping.
