Where to find smaller arcade buttons?
« on: June 28, 2017, 07:45:33 pm »
I need to fit a service button underneath the overhang of my CP.  I only have 1" of space available, so I can't fit a standard button.  Where can I find a smaller button that can work with a 3/4" thick plywood CP?

The 3/4" thick part makes finding a suitable small button very difficult.

Can you slim it down to about 0.4" for these threaded buttons?

  Sanwa OBSN-24 -- 24mm convex, threaded, 27mm bezel

  Seimitsu PS-14-DN -- 24mm convex, threaded, 26mm bezel

Or perhaps dremel out pockets for locking tabs?

  Sanwa SDM-20 -- 20mm concave, locking tabs, 23mm bezel

  Sanwa SDM-18 -- 18mm concave, locking tabs, 20mm bezel

Look for them on Paradise Arcade Shop and/or Focus Attack.

EDIT: Wait, I may have misunderstood.

Do you only have 1" wide (see suggestions above) or 1" behind the panel? (see Ultimarc Goldleafs or Seimitsu PS-14-GN-C or Sanwa OBSN threaded buttons )

A Happ/IL button and a Goldleaf installed on 3/4 MDF.

I have 1" wide.  The space behind the CP is several inches.
I could use a forstner bit to remove some wood from behind the CP to make the theeaded buttons work if there is no better option.

None that I know of.   :dunno

Forstner bit FTW.

Yeah, I had the same situation.  I drilled out a larger hole to set it into.   :(

I've used 24mm snap in OBSF 24 buttons in thicker wood and they have worked just fine.  They are a snug fit and generally don't pop out easily.  Just use a 24mm forstner bit to carefully drill a hole in the wood.  If you want you can even use hot glue to keep them in.  But I've never had the need to do that.
