Connecting 2 buttons on the same A-PAC terminal?
« on: March 27, 2016, 02:54:07 pm »
This may require thinking outside the box here, because it involves cutting a corner or two to save some money. Or maybe its pretty straightforward?

Imagine you have an arcade game like REV-X that has 2 guns...now imagine that cabinet has been modified with added joysticks, extra buttons and MAME, so that you can play shooters with analog guns and regular arcade games like beat em ups.

An A-PAC has a maximum connectivity of 4 analog axes and 24 buttons. I understand an U-HID would increase the number of connections but I dont want to have to buy another device to add to my set up. My question is: I have maxed out connectivity to all 4 analogs and all 24 buttons, that leaves me with 1 unconnected button on the guns, so is it electrically possible to connect that remaining gun button to an A-PAC port thats already being used for one of the beat em up buttons? Basically this means that 2 buttons (1 on the guns/ 1 on the control panel) would serve the same purpose in any game, but would eliminate having to reach down to the control panel to shoot a bomb while playing a shooter. Make sense? This wouldnt be a problem for gameplay considering that no ones going to be using gun buttons during a beat em up and vice versa for a shooter...Im just wondering if it would screw anything up in regards to the electronics?

Thanks!
