Any places besides Ebay for reasonably priced tokens?

Depends on how many you need.  You can get em for about 20 cents each if you go down to Peter Piper or Chuck E Cheese and just buy $20 worth of tokens.

Not my idea, credit to PBJ.  I thought it was a great idea.

Define reasonably priced.  ::)

For really small quantities ... follow pbj.

I see that my local arcade sells tokens for $170/1000. Pretty sure I paid less half of that last time I bought new tokens.

Or you can go with someone like noice for $20-90 per 1000 depending on the token (WTF haven't you folks mentioned him in token threads before now, if only for the entertainment value).

Reasonably priced - I guess around $50 shipped?.  I have no need for a thousand tokens, 100 would be LOTS.  I was thinking of pbj's idea but I would love to have some "new" looking tokens (nickel or chrome plated), vs those tarnished old brass ones.  I guess a guy could clean and spray paint them?

I'll look into this noice fella.

And that journey -- in and of itself -- will be worth more than any savings you may find on a handful of brass discs.

I have these:

http://akimono.herokuapp.com/products/28

500 tokens for $30 (.984 size)

They are made out of stainless steel (the non magnetic type), so they are silver in color.

They are reasonably nice for the money, but they do have a drawback in that they are a little thinner than standard tokens.
Because they are stainless instead of brass and a bit thinner, they are also a little lighter than standard tokens (approx 4g vs 4.5g).

I was a little concerned that they would be too light to work properly in a coin mech, but I just found out yesterday that they work perfectly in my newly-acquired coin door.

I'm kind of on the fence about them.
When I first received them a couple of years ago, I was going to return them because they were thinner than I was expecting. In fact, I thought I had returned them until my wife told me she had seen them in a closet a couple of days ago.
Now I have verified that they work in my mechs, I have warmed to them somewhat, and they'll do for now at least.

I feel your pain about the price of tokens nowadays.
About ten years ago when I lived in the UK, I bought a lot of 5,000 used (but excellent condition) mixed tokens for 50GBP (around $75).
They were mixed, but there were around 500-1,000 of each design, all nickel plated, and they were all real arcade tokens, no car wash etc.

I didn't need anywhere near that many, but I could only find huge lots, and they were so cheap I didn't mind.

Ended up throwing them in the trash when I emigrated. I wish I had kept at least a couple of hundred :(

You won't get custom tokens for cheap, but you might find proper arcade tokens for around $0.10 each if you look around.
Try searching for 'pachislo tokens'.

Oh, and thanks for poking even more fun at my token thread.

FWIW, I'm glad I didn't buy the Any Coin mechs, because I like the fact that my token mechs only accept tokens and reject pennies, nickels etc.

Yea those any coin mechs didn't do it for me.  I'd like a penny to get rejected and a quarter get accepted.

I wasn't picking on you directly, its just a typical BYOAC thread. :laugh2:   Some of the guys have been around this forum too long.

I used to buy those mechs that only took quarters and .984 tokens, but now I stick with AnyCoinMechs. Since I provide the tokens, no one has ever tried using a nickel or penny. Not an issue.

Yeah I suppose I wouldn't have to worry about that but its the fact that it would work if someone tried.... >:D

I think the ultimarc mech I have can be used with any size token/coin, somehow it compares the sample to the coin.  I like that the unaccepted coins go right through to reject.   Like when you were a kid and thought you could try a nickel instead of a quarter.

Unless you're running a route, does it really matter? I wouldn't kick someone out my gameroom if they tried using a quarter on a string, either.

Oh wow, I didn't know he was still a topic.  Is he still selling tokens?  This is from Token Warehouse:

"Thanks for making us the #1 Modern Token seller on ebay in 2004-2007 and we strive to be bigger and better in 2008."

Is there an update?  Did he ever listen to any of Paigeoliver's advice? Did he sell off the Moppets?  Does that thread still exist?  Not that I could read it again if it does...

So, again, the reasons we go with Chuckle Cheese tokens are multiple:

You hand over money, get tokens immediately.
The tokens are shiny.
Guests will think you're a badass that stole tokens from an arcade.
In two weeks, when you tire of tokens, you can spend them at Chuckle Cheese.

You save 20 cents and go with Sweetest COC Guy and you're stuck with random laundromat crap nobody wants.  Pachislo tokens you might be able to offload.  Maybe.

The only downside I see to your plan PBJ, is that you have to go to Chuck-E-Cheese.

I'm sure I'll go again sometime in my life, but the whole family had the trots last time we went.  Till then I'll use quarters, but if their tokens are as shiny as you say they are, I might grab a 100 or so.

or:  http://www.zerofuckscoin.com/

And this brings us to the truth of the matter of tokens ... tokens rock if they speak to you. Really, what kind of fool recommends tokens that are priced at $5 a pop. Except they are kinda obnoxious and cool. Santini did an amazing job with the BYOAC tokens and I regret not buying them (so should you).

If tokens aren't making your shorts wobble, line up with pbj because he's right.

Having said all of that, I might buy some stuff from noice because he's noice, has procreated and isn't a seeping bag of negativity. A rarity in this hobby.

Our local Barcade has done several "groupons" in the past year.  I usually come home with extra tokens which I've started donating to my game room.  My youngest is having friends over on Wednesday and I'm thinking of putting my games back on "free play" so I don't have to fret about the tokens walking off.

My link was more tongue in cheek than serious.

I too miss Sant's offerings. Shoulda jumped on those when I had the chance. Also missed the chance @ Flynn's Arcade tokens, (my family lives a half hour away).

PBJ has pretty much hit the nail on the head. At this point it's pretty much spend lots of loot or get some pizza place / D&B tokens....unless you have an old school traditional arcade you can grab some from.....

noice gonna noice and he continues to do it like a boss, without fear or animosity.

Compare that to 99.9% of folks here, on KLOV, in King of Kong or Chasing Ghosts.

noice is the greatest arcade hero.

Meh, let's not oversell this.

Thank you.  I thought it was just me.

Yeah, if you visited Brother Frizz's site, you might think differently.

I am, however,  a proud owner of a Noice Moppet CAX '15  t-shirt, tho.

You know, you can't help but start rooting for the guy about 50 pages into that thread.

Yep, I went back and read the whole thread. Took A few days...

10 things I learned from noice's thread on KLOV love:

1) The coc in "sweetestcocguy@aol.com" stands for Church of Christ. Noice wants you to know this is not the same as being Mormon.
2) "noice" is no-ice. It's how he likes his Dr. Pepper.
3) A surprising amount of dating occurs at Subway. And Walmart. Sometimes even the Subway inside the Walmart.
4) If a girl appears to be avoiding you, you should call her constantly. When she doesn't answer or return your calls for several days, you should stop by her house and leave a note on her door.
5) Spell-check is entirely unnecessary for communicating online.
6) If you have a female friend who has a history of abusive relationships, by all means send her a single rose at her workplace with a note saying, "I would never abuse you physically or emotionally."
7) You can never have too many turtles.
8 ) Or buckets filled with mixed tokens.
9) Or toddler-sized arcade cabinets.
10) If you spend all day chatting with hot babes on the Internet, you will eventually find true love. Also learned this from Napoleon's brother Kip.

In all seriousness, it was great to read about noice getting married and having kids. He was openly mocked for years in that thread. He took it all in stride and moved on towards his goal. Along the way he faced set-backs and disappointments.

In the end he got the girl.
