Exit mala hotkey
« on: May 25, 2015, 12:57:54 pm »
How do people have their mala cabs set up in terms of shutting down the system ? Can you map a button to shut down mala ? When I hit the button for "shut down pc" I get the usual "pc cannot shut down because one or more programs are still running" etc etc which means I have to get my hand round the back of the cab, into the guts and fumble about till I can click the mouse on the "cancel" option (which shuts everything down).

Can I map a button to shut down mala that's also bound to mame ? If I use the button in mame will it jump out and shut down mala ? Basically, do I need a dedicated button for this or will it only take effect when the mala frontend is in the foreground (when I'm choosing a game) rather than always being activated (when in game) if I hit this button ?

I was going to map the "exit game" button to this function if possible. How have you other Mala using folks done this ?

Thanks in advance for any help given. LOVING this verticade now that it's (mostly) behaving itself. Have a nice red bezel glass happening now and everything about it is working great, all is controlled by buttons save for this shutdown issue. I could just hold the power button and turn the pc off but I don't like to do that and it also brings up the hasslesome boot menu "windows was not correctly shut down" etc etc.

sorry, just noticed there's a dedicated mala forum. Should probably have posted this in there. If a mod feels the need then they can move it. Apologies.

I have it set to exit using the same button as exit game, then I can exit back to the desktop and shut it down. I wish there was a way to skip that dialogue and just force it down.

There is a way.  Its a plugin for Mala .  I cant remember what its called but I use it and it works for me.  I will check the name when I get home tonight unless someone else can tell you.

I use an AHK script that mala runs on exit.
When ran, the AHK shuts the computer down, UNLESS the P2 start button is held in. If so, it then exits to the Windows desktop.
This gives me a choice of turning off the machine or just exiting mala in case I need to do some maintenance on the computer via Windows.
I can post the script, if interested.

You can also just map any button (such as whichever button exits games) and then from Mala options, set mala to shutdown rather than quit. Make sure the option is checked for it to confirm so that when you press the exit button it will prompt "shutdown?" Then you just press the player 1 button (or other button that you may have mapped to start) in order to confirm
