Looking good, nice work.

You should do screenshots instead of taking photos of your computer screen. Less time, higher quality, no nasty moiré pattern or reflections.

Can I suggest moving the Triforce to a corner and putting the master sword where the Triforce was?

Good suggestion.  I actually really want to do an alternate version of artwork for this cabinet...more modern artwork and stenciling like chance suggested.   If I did, I would use sword imagery a lot...like on the marquee with the LOZ logo only and a lot of negative space.  I think it would look cool!!

Thanks guys!

Today, I went ahead and had my local print shop print off the CPO.  It gave me something hands on to do while I continue tweaking/finishing the rest of the artwork.  Like I said earlier in this thread, in college I used to make GI JOE packages where I layered chrome underneath the print to give it a chrome effect.  I thought it would be cool to try it on a much larger scale. Thought is the key word....it's really tedious! I'm gonna be hating life when I get to the bezel. Haha.

I could have had the printer use the plotter to make the cut lines....but I always prefer more of a hands on method.  Also, I hate computers. :)

So anyways, main tools I used where a hobby knife, lots of blades, tape and some straight edges.  I ran out of transfer paper to get the cut vinyl onto the chrome paper, so I used clear shelf paper from Walmart. Worked great!     It's always nerve racking because if the ruler slips once....it's over.  Fortunately, it went pretty well tonight. :)  Pics below.

this thread keeps me coming back to this site.  :applaud:

Loving that Bezel, don't be afraid to make the characters on the sides/top/bottom of it bigger to fill up the space and protrude into the display a bit more. thats the only feedback i'd give. Looks amazing.

I'll play around with it, thanks. I originally had them pretty big but then there became a hierarchy of scale issue with the corner characters....so I shrunk them way down to the point they were leaving to much negative space....so I kinda just met in the middle.

Love the YouTube channel, by the way! (I think I said that already, not sure?) :)

I can't say enough good things about this build Wyo! I like the gold cutout! Too bad you don't have access to a die cutting machine! First cut would be to cut out the printed gold then second cut would be of the metallic paper then slide the cutouts into the holes of the CP!!! Keep up the good work!!!

That's some pretty awesome work on the CPO there. Most (99%) of peeps I reckon would have printed it out in 'gold effect'. Failing that, got it cut by the printers. Hardcore...

Thank you gentlemen. Your encouragement is awesome and motivating me to keep going and try and finish this project!    ;D

I got some work done on the control panel construction today and it's pretty much finished.  After cutting all the button holes and the recessed area for the dust washer, I attached a sheet of ABS textured plastic for durability. I use this technique on all my Nintendo cabinet projects.  I also attached the chrome 5/8 t molding on the front...but you can't really see it in the Pics below. The joystick is an Omni 4/8 way ball top from groovy game gear. I love the omni stick.

My question to you guys is: Which set of buttons do you like better? At first I thought I liked the solid colors in keeping with original nintendo cabs....but then I think the translucent buttons from paradise arcade look pretty good too. I'm not a huge fan of either green.  If I used the translucent buttons, I wouldn't light them up.

Please Let me know your opinions!

I'm undecided on which button set to use.  I probably wouldn't light them up, just because I'd like to keep the build kinda close to a 80's style Nintendo cab and just having translucent controls is already pushing it. Lol.

I wonder if I ditched the translucent green buttons and got two more translucent yellow buttons....that might look really cool and work with the color palette better.  I wouldn't have contrasting buttons like All the other cabs do...but still. Hmmmm

Now if I were building this is would ultimately use the regular opaque green and yellow leafs. And thank you for the joystick suggestion I think they look really close to Nintendo sticks and they won't break your wallet.

This is inspirational.  Keep it up.

The joystick choice is perfect.

I prefer the opaque buttons by a wide margin.

Solid colored buttons. And I'd use a black ball top.

Everything translucent looks too busy and a little over the top.

Keeping the ball top and buttons solid keeps it more in line with something Nintendo would have made back in the day.

EDIT: And if you do go with translucent, please don't back light them. :)

If you can match the ball top gold color with the CP gold, then I am actually thinking the gold would help the CP pop it the right way. :) But I think the translucent green puls focus away from the art of the CP. I was also looking to make a new bracket to use leaf switch buttons on an all wood CP. But eh my 3D modeling skills are less than spectacular lol :)

Yeah, I get it.  Those green buttons bug me as well.  I ordered two more translucent yellow buttons to replace them.  You lose the whole contrasting buttons nintendo thing...but I think it may look good. We'll see.

I also ordered some solid color ball tops as well to play around with.  I Have no idea why I haven't photoshopped the compositions and then just ordered what looks best...But I guess I'll just have a bunch of left over balls. You can never have to many balls, ya know.   :lol

I'll probably photoshop the changes and post pics up here while I wait for everything to arrive.
