Hi have e-maild Andy at Ultimarc he says the guns will work with the A-pac his concerns was setting the aim of the guns., i am just waiting of a delivery of a A-pac. So i can make a start. Has any one actually got these type of guns working in Mame.
Not T2 guns, but similar ones.
They're basically just joysticks with an X and Y axis same as any other joystick.
There's nothing mysterious to getting them working if you have a good understanding of how analog input works in MAME.
Whatever you do, don't map anything to Analog INC or Analog DEC in MAME. Those aren't for analog inputs.
They are for when you are using pushbuttons in place of real analog controls.
Only map the axis.
Here are some calibration pointers I posted elsewhere:
1. Calibrate the positional gun in windows by pointing it along the edges of the screen.
2. In mame.ini set the dead zone to zero.
3. In mame.ini set the saturation to 1 (100%)
4. Calibrate the gun in the game's service menu
5. Adjust the sensetivity under analogue controls in MAME's in-game menu until the crosshairs don't lag behind the gun movement.
(there is only ONE sensetivity setting, ignore all settings that include the word DIGITAL)
If you are using a widescreen, when you calibrate it in-game, only move the gun to the edges of the 4:3 image.
I don't recall if I did the same while calibrating it in windows, but it may be necessary.
Model 2 emulator only accepts mouse movement, but I believe you can get it working with the APAC using Howard Casto's Troubleshooter2 program.
Look for it in the software subforum.
EDIT: Ha! found some old video of my first gameplay after tinkering with a positional gun. No FFB, I have it wired to a leftover racing pedal interface, & I'm actually firing with a keyboard.....but it was a start.
