The 2014 Fullsize Dedicated Voting Thread!!
« on: February 01, 2015, 10:26:51 am »
Welcome to the 2014 BYOAC User Choice Awards Fullsize Dedicated category voting poll!

Each user gets one vote so pick the project that best fits the broad definition below and really captured your attention.  Feel free to post why you chose a certain cabinet but don't feel obligated to reveal your vote.

These are the uprights, cockpits, V-Pins, Racers, and showcase cabs that demonstrate outstanding theme, style, balance, and execution designed to play a specific title with a very limited playlist.

Please note that we have a repeat winner in the fullsize category this year.  Sjaak took home the ribbon last year for his awesome Fix-it Felix Jr.  As such his Lover's in a Dangerous Space Time - which is also wholly awesome is not eligible to win so you won't see it in the poll but will see it listed below.

And now, the confirmed nominees for the 2014 BYOAC UCA Best Fullsize Dedicated:

Shrunkenmaster's Track & Field

Yotsuya's Super Spacefortress Macross

Elvis's Moon Patrol

Sjaak's Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time

Please be sure and check out the five other categories and cast your vote on each:

Builders, if there is a picture you would prefer represent your build rather than the one chosen please pm me with a url and I will get it changed out

Thanks.

Macross all the way. The attention to detail sets this machine in a league of it's own. The inspection stickers, manual bag, and custom made back door sheet are exactly what I'm talking about. Not to mention, yotsuya did an excellent job achieving his vision while staying within the original scope of his plan to make this look like a kit game. If this doesn't get you chuffed, I don't know what will...

Poll seems to be missing a voting option for sjaaks Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time cabinet !

That said all are great builds but will have to go for the Moon Patrol build - such a great example of a classic build !

Macross FTW.

Your love for that "classic" arcade look shows in this.

Details level: Pro.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! For those of you attending ZapCon 2015, I will be taking this machine there again for the community to enjoy. I actually made friends last year with people who played the game. It's been a fun ride.

Hey, I haven't said anything in a while...

But I voted for Yotsuya's Super Spacefortress Macross because I'm partial to the Centipede-styled cabinets. Otherwise, really hard to choose.

That moon patrol makes me want to play moon patrol. Like a lot.   But it's no Macross. I love that Macross build. It's the driving force that made me want to build a deticated cab. Little details pushed it over the edge. I also couldn't find the button to vote for Melissa Rauch.

She's from Calgary you know, and I wouldn't touch her with a yours now that she's been with Dion. He was a Red Deer Rebel in the WHL. My Ex was best friends with one of the "Puck Bunnies" that got around the team. Dion may or may not have something you can't give back.  Sad.  Well, that and she was also with Sean Avery. Just, I'll let the other hockey guys in the crowd do the math on this.

Voted for the boring cab. ;)

But all were pretty good. Big respect points for that Moon Patrol, clean respectful repro, and especially being a gift for a buddy!  :applaud:

Macross is different and stands out to me because Yots envisioned a cabinet for a game that didn't have a dedicated one, and delivered. Also with a few added mini details that really sold the whole theme well. I would have liked more CP detail in the artwork, but that's more of a nitpick'y personal preference, I like busier looking CP Art. But still the whole cabinet was really well executed and my top pick!

Thanks. I'm humbled, especially since your hibernating (it's not dead) AlphaOne was the inspiration for my cab.

I actually DID make a detailed CP, but I wanted to keep it kit-authentic so I passed. HaRuMaN and I at one time even discussed making acrylic tabs for the fire and bomb buttons, like you'd see on some kits, but ran out of time.

Where as Moon patrol just shouts quality to me...
So my vote goes to Moon Patrol!

Judge a book by its cover I suppose...

It would have been cheaper on my pocketbook if I were to simply have "whacked a poster" on the side. All that side art was custom die cut by the awesome Lucian045 per my "kit game" designs (especially the cockpit stencil on the bottom, which, as far as I know, isn't available on any poster).

It would have been cheaper on my pocketbook if I were to simply have "whacked a poster" on the side. All that side art was custom die cut by the awesome Lucian045 per my "kit game" designs (especially the cockpit stencil on the bottom, which, as far as I know, isn't available on any poster).

Boring cabinet is Boring.

I no rite? All the kit games back in the day came with full size artwork and a full gallon of paint that wasn't black, which ops loving took the time to carefully apply, removing all traces of the previous game. If it took a week of the machine being off the street not earning, so be it.
