New(ish) Jukebox Cabinet For me!

I have purchased a 2nd hand Jukebox Cabinet from EBAY ( not the original vendor). He had started it by assembling & gluing in some plastic trims & added a LED string. SO far I've stripped it down removed the plastics & glue, I painted the trim & details antique gold. I've manufactured some more plastic trim & installed LED bubble wands behind them, & re-routed the wiring back to a 4 point USB power source. I've cut the MDF for the speaker enclosure & for the touch screen mounting, so it's moving along nicely. Here some pictures:

Started the speaker enclosure, I had originally brought A pair of active speakers, but decided 400watts per channel was too much. I'm using an old 100watt system & putting line out sockets on the back for plugging the BIG Speakers in when required ( you never know when you'll need 800 watts of sound)

Thanks. They came with the cabinet 2nd hand so don't know. But they are USB powerd so probably for lighting inside a old PC case.

Ok a bit further along this weekend, Installed the power amp & extra cooling fan ( will tidy this up when I make the bracket) Installed the amp controls in the side ( heart in the mouth time cutting outer shell) measure twice cut once. Speaker baffles ( painted black ) installed waiting for the wiring to be finished. Front decorative metal work installed, speaker cloth may need be sorting out.
I Hopefully will get the sound system completed & tested tonight. then on to the touch screen install.  ( 14:30pm added a better picture.)

Good call on the speakers. for this kind of cabinet, you just don't need that much.

The 2.1 Altec Lansing computer speaker system has been more than enough for my cab, it's cheap, and everyone who's heard it has been impressed with the sound.

I blew up my amp, don't know how or when probably static off me fingers or a capacitor..... Brought a new amp see pictures. dismantled it and manufactured a new front mounting plate due to I wanted the control to be verticle down the side. Found the price of brass sheet to be too much for me, so I used a door push plate and modified it to suit my purposes. Remove the varnish off the front to make it look old, but couldn't find any decals for to show volume,bass treble & Microphone levels. Bit of research and found some transparent transfer film that I printed onto & then sealed with acrylic Spray. You soak the transfers in water & slide them off the backing paper (like you did with affix models) Once dried out, 3 layers of acrylic spray to seal. see pictures.  Looks good with LED lit. Finished the speaker cabinet all wired up & sound great.
I have spent 2 weeks trying to get XP to install on a old PC..... I gave it one last chance by downloading a copy of XP version 3 with sata drivers. It worked 1st time....2 weeks of wasted time. so got my 7 different jukeboxes installed 70's, 80's, ALL, ROCK, XMAS, Karaoke, ELVIS..   & started to configure simple touch for the touch screen BUT the PC loses power & drops out, cant find a thing wrong I just think this PC is JINXED.

Cool work. I also like the brass plate. That lighted volume control sets it off. Was that already on the speaker amp you dismantled?

Set back at the weekend! Pc setup, software running, touch screen working, 7 jukebox styles installed, LED lights installed. But then:  Half the strip of led's stopped working, after pressing along the strip found that the conductive track had broken & worked intermitantly.  As I had glued the strip light to the jukebox I had to perform minor surgery, I carefully cut away the clear rubber cover back to the circuits then ran a soldering iron over the breaks, flowing solder across the breaks. when I powered up the led's all worked and there was no more loss of power to half the LED's, I then used hot glue to cover the bare electrical joints & blending in with the shape.
2: Sunday morning while preparing all the vegatables for Sunday dinner, I was running the jukebox on Elvis mode (random tracks)  when after 30 minutes the jukebox switched OFF, not shutdown, not crashed, just lost power........ So now I've got a unstable power supply? or overheating something? or a loose wire? etc, etc.

Time to dig out the old tower base unit & recommission it for this jukebox.

Yes thanks for looking, it was part of the original Amp, but the brass plate is all me.

Hi Y'all, Last night did my first test run of all parts of the jukebox working together. Still not happy with the Computer & touch screen, but all worked for once together. I've taken stills from a video I made, I will try to add the video later.

  Well after 4 weeks of trying to get the Dell computer to run for more than 30 minutes. I change back to an old system that was 10 years old, It ran consistantly, all programs installed even touch screen. BUT! cant get the drivers for the sound card anywhere. So no good there. I switched  back to the DELL and after changing memory, hard drives, formatting drives re-installing from scratch, removing and cleaning heat sinks and fans.and it still did not work for more than 30 minutes. I was just about to throw it in the bin when I thought I'd just check what google has to say, after watching videos on how to remove the capacitors from the mother board, researching what capacitors were needed. I nearly gave up. but then after pages & pages of google hits was a little message "it could be the cd/dvd drive" Now in my head there was no way this was related, but what had I to lose by trying it was going in the bin anyway. So I unplugged the cd/dvd drive completely and start it up..........

Low and behold it has been running non stop for 5 days...... apparently its a known fault with certain dvd drives on DELL computers, but they like to keep it quiet.  So all good now, the finish line is in sight & people want to hire my jukebox out from me! but  I wont do that it's for me & my family for fun times at home.

That's quite the light show, good for you, I just stumbled across this build but it was a fun read.  Thanks for posting it up and staying after that juke project, it looks like its turning out great!
