You should be ashamed of yourself, LT!!   >:D

I mean did you really have to leave so many of us curled up in the fetal position, rocking back-and-forth, sucking a thumb, tugging on an earlobe, and repeatedly mumbling, "My happy place . . .  My happy place. . ." as we weep with despair at ever reaching this level of build awesomeness -- or is that just me?   :laugh2:

This is truly a classic build for the ages.

Yeah, I agree that a larger screen would look better visually. In fact, I had posted that a bit earlier, but deleted it out.

Screen is too small.

Or at least some kind of bezel around the TV to hide the black sides.  Even if it is just cardboard and double sided tape.

As far as the build itself, It looks great!  Those clouds in the CP art look awesome with the reflectiveness that the plexi produces.  Almost looks real.

LT, it's a great job.  Well done!

If you ever wake up in the night and find yourself missing those hours upon hours of routing and inking in lines I might suggest that you use the Deviant art (which is nice) as a scratch template with an awl and then carve in that design to the CP.  It would be nice to have the same paint and carve treatment up top as you do on the rest of the build and would really put the whole thing over the top.  I mean, these things are never really done right?  RIGHT?

I mean, you could recut the CP, do it at 1" thick or however big the squares are and run it around the boarder as well...food for thought >:)

The artwork is the bomb but the highlight of your build are those freaking bricks.  Well worth the hours you sent making them.  Pure awesome.

Many thanks go out to Chemonox on deviantart for hooking me up with this amazing control panel artwork. It's the highlight of the build imo. I don't even know the guy, just sent him a message about trying to work out something for this project and he tweaked an existing image to my liking for free. What a badass. Thanks, man.

I have some questions about the warp zone letters, as might do something similar:
How big (or small) are they and what size is roughly the thinnest part? How did you cut them? Was it easy to do?

Depending on exactly what you are needing for letters, I have access to a laser cutter that could make super crisp letters.  We usually use 1/4" birch plywood.

A friend from work gave me a Goomba yesterday. It's just the right size.

Yeah, this is about as eye catching as builds get. I know you always make great builds, Louis, but was silently dreading that some "modern mario" was gonna sneak in because of the abundant supply of crisp high rez art. SMB1 head to toe, but with a 3d twist. I agree with yotsuya about the action figures looking weird, but simply because they are a little too modern feeling. No matter what, I feel you really took a risky concept and made it posh as well as fun. This would look good on display at the Nintendo Headquarters.

What would fit though? I'm no good with graphic design/art. You can hop back a few pages and see that's an understatement. Surround the monitor with more clouds and maybe toss in one of those vines on one side of the tv? With a row of bricks and coins along the top? I don't know? I could always just hot-glue Mario and the Goomba to the top of the tv.   ;)

Maybe just a Nintendo Logo to cover up the Vizio logo - One other minor suggestion Perhaps cutout a section of the Flagpole where the TV mounts and run the cables down inside the pole rather than alongside it to hide the cables

I think the idea of bezel art on a flat screen is pretty stupid, personally, but you definitely need to drill a hole in that pole and drop the cables through that.

Agreed. On the flatscreen TV I have in my gameroom, I just put a sticker over the brand logo. You don't need a full bezel, per se.

If you are gonna keep the wii bar up, I might be tempted to do something a little less conspicuous for that as well. Isn't a wii bar just 2 IR leds?
