Yeah, I see the DMD screen.  I was talking about the playfield screen.  Lots of people leave the case on and the playfield has a bit of a border around it.  I tried to get mine down to zero.  Also I highly recommend a custom lockdown bar from VirtuaPin.

Yes, i love the slide in lcd method, takes away the need for a bezel right?, maximum playfield
The custom lockdown bar will be ordered once i have figured out the cabinet size , how did you mount it on the cab? I dont see a need for a Lockdown Bar Lever Guide Assembly .

I'm using heavy-duty Velcro.  It wasn't what I wanted to use, but ended up being the best option.

So you got the "no underparts" version, can you tell me the exact dimensions of it in centimeters?

Yes I got the custom bar without underparts.  I think they would have got in the way on a mini cab.

15" = 38.1 cm

Thanks, but i meant dept, height, width  :)

Meanwhile i drew up my design in sketchup , first i looked up some plans of others, and combined with what i had on paper and then created a 3d design.
That way i got a better view on my idea and made some changes here and there. I think its well proportioned , nothing final yet because while i construct it in my head and looking at the 3d render i bumb into little things sometimes.

Its about 90cm standing height, 100cm deep and 45cm wide

It's 38.1(width) x 6.35(depth) 2.54cm(height)

And are those the legs from my model?  Those were amazingly difficult to make, being a self-taught sketchup virgin.

Hey
Kool.. thanks for the plans!... say if you take out bump and nudge.. and use buttons... how much would that reduce cost?  Are you not concerned about bumping and shifting those expensive panels around? I would be worried they could get damaged?

I have found a couple (3) companies in USA that sell pre made ones, but they go for like 4k!!! Is there anyone in Canada??
thanks

I have utterly slammed my cabinet hard enough to move it across the floor a few times, during intense games. The panels survive just fine. If you secure them properly, they do nto really move. The whole cabinet does, but I suspect they see more abuse when the Shaker motor kicks in than when I am nudging the cabinet.

Hey
Ah.. I would be concerned about the tvs... but if you slam it and all is fine I guess it could be ok.  Do you have a link to your project?

Sure do. Here you go.

It is not a clean build thread, but it is complete and shows all the mistakes and headaches I ran into ... Mostly due to my own stupidity. But I had some odd hardware failures during as well.

Quick question:

You have already supported the Timeshock Pro Pinball kickstarter, haven't you?!?  If not, you should.  There's only four days left!

Looking good, and why not. Been ordering so much stuff its crazy, money flows like water for this project. So backing this

Gotta find a few more parts and i think i can get a lockdown bar made locally , that would be the first that i don't have to get something from the USA with insane prices.

I haven't decided yet about glass or lexan, i have 4mm of space for something.

At the moment i am trying to puzzeling decorate the interior with all the electronics, sub woofer and cooling.

A (small) pincab is more difficult then a standard upright :P

Today i did some electronics..

i picked up a free pc, seems to be a pentium 4.

i only kept what i could need

- dvd drive (for windows install
- floppy disc drive (could be handy if i go windows xp lite route)
- case (using this for the pc components
- on off switch wires (easy wiring to outside on off switch)
- cpu and motherboard cooling fan and blocks

Cutting up the case and painting it..

here is the pc part done mostly

Mounted the ssd on the case itself

That power supply rocks, its modulair build and has a 12v line of 70A!
Goldclass 96% efficiency. Should be enough to power everything.

Then i started on the ledwiz panel.

That cooling block from the mainboard looks nice to cool those chips on the ledwiz

Before

After

Then starting the primairy wiring..

Done for today

I used way to thick wire (AWG18), stripping/soldering/heatshrinking that was a time consuming

Art maybe , but i made a mistake, the fuses are bigger then the holder  :banghead:
When i insert them, they short each other out, i need to make space between them..

Or just solder the fuses on top of the holder, but then there is no point for the easy-clip-on-clip-off-fuse-holder

You know, most people would get to this point, and then do this.

It takes a special breed to work through it. Congrats.

Started on the coinbox panel

Fitting perfect

I test fitted the bottom box to see if my measurements where right

When i was using my router, it heard a rattle then the thing died on me.

I took it apart and found 2 lose metal clips , which they have eaten away a bit of metal from the middle

Quite a big bite..

These 2 parts where the problem. i don't know where they are from..

I cleaned the whole router and put it back together without those 2 metal clips, and i seems to work just fine.

Any thoughts on this? Or should i get a new one..  :dunno

And i am happy that my circle cutting jig came in, its a Jasper 200J, not for sale in Europe

Gonna try this thing out when i made up my mind with this router

test run seems ok  :applaud:

So i started rebuilding a woofer box

Reinforced the inside with glue and metal brackets

2 passive + 1 active woofer and no exhaust, gonna let it dry before i try

Black & Decker doesn't seem to hold up anymore...

It didn't let me down yet (Still happily married with it,  my first and only router ), i even think it was me slamming the springs back and forth a few projects back.

The woofer is a Creative Slam system (Symmetrically Loaded Acoustic Module) Bose uses this same technology.
It gives a heavy but tight bass in a small woofer case.

I am happy with its quality and highly recommend this 2.1 system (creative gigaworks t3) for anyone who needs a small but powerful and great quality audio.

My laminate arrived  :applaud: The store where i bought this stopped selling it and i had a hard time to find this stuff in my country.
I really hate painting and am never satisfied with its result, and even with the smallest mistake you can bumb the paint off, this material is king quality, strong and gives a durable layer to any project.

It's a black matte color

And did some more hole cutting for fans and speakers

Little progress on the back panel for Power,Main switch,Boot button,USB,LAN and a air vent

And i made some progress on the bottom box, its glued and screwed together, i had to redo-router the lcd slot, it needed to be a little higher, ill fix the gap with some simple pine to hold the lcd in place

Just finished up my slot for the rgb ledstrip  :applaud:

Jealous at you cnc enabled people, but don't give up builders, with a steady hand we can accomplish similar result.

I was looking dread against this part, i only had one shot to get it right

I placed a panel on top to guide my router and went freehand to cut out the slot

Hooray  :applaud:

I am on the highway to hell  8)

Ill probably paint the inside black and then add the strip, it fits like a charm

And i finished up a back panel of the bottom

Made the grill out of a piece of aluminum and painted it

Ready for paint

Another great project!

May I ask where you've bought laminate? You live in the Netherlands, right? (ik kan niks vinden in Nederland).

Thank you.

I found it on marktplaats.nl , its a guy who makes custom furniture. ill private message you his email adres, its not cheap but beats painting by miles.
