Am I the only one who thinks that game is horrible?  I mean, yeah, it caught my eye when it was new because it looked nice and I love Star Wars, but I distinctly remember having the feeling that it played more like a tech-demo than a game.  It seemed like it didn’t really matter what I did—as if the whole idea was to pay a dollar (or whatever) to watch some pretty Star Wars themed graphics for 3-4 minutes, then “insert coin to continue”.

I felt like one of those 4 year-old kids who walks up to an arcade cabinet, stands on a chair, and fiddles around with the controls thinking he is actually playing the game, but in reality is just fiddling around with the controls and watching the attract mode.

It reminds me a lot of the old "Rebel Assault" PC/Mac game, a "rail shooter."  I really enjoyed playing it for free at Disney Quest a few weeks back, but yeah, having to put quarters in that sucker gets old quick.

Your not alone.   The game sucks.  The original plays much better, and is infinitely more valuable.

REBEL ASSAULT! wow I havent thought about that game in ages, THAT was great game during the boom of early CDROM games, very impressive for its time, I played the snot out of that lol

Back on topic - yeah thats pretty much junk, marquee, PCBs, not much else

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

SLIMLINE!  I was trying to remember that name when I posted.

As for where to sit, the cab is a sit-down.  ;)

Ha! That's hilarious!

However comfortable (and fun) the sit-down cab may be, it still doesn't have a "one-of-a-kind vintage custom lounge chair with black vinyl cushions."

That increased level of luxury will run you another $645.

I never said how many times I had to play it before I got that good did I?

Quote
I loved it and could regularly beat it on one credit.

If you can beat a game easily, then its not really so much a game.. but instead, a Kiddie Ride.  A movie.  A baby's toy.

A good game challenges you.   Thats why the Original will always be remembered... where as the sequel will be long lost forgotten, in the distant future.

It is the challenging games (and times/experiences), that we remember the most vividly... and gain the most pleasure from the hard earned victory.

Cool.  Kennesaw for me.  I wasn't really interested, but I may have just gotten it and offered it up here, so it's good to hear it's not going to a landfill.  Please let us know how you do with it.  Seems like and interesting project that would really piss off my wife, so good on you for going for it. :D

My wife is on board with my current mad scientist scheme, after I get this I have one more acquisition to make before I can start figuring out how things will fit together.  It won't be landfill fodder, you can believe that.

Man, that's awesome.  I also belong to the bmxmuseum.com group and it's nice to see old bikes and arcade machines get saved from the recycling center.

Good on ya.

Road up this morning and picked up the SWTA.  Guy has a pretty significant collection of GI Joe and Batman toys, comics, and collectables.  The SWTA was cramping his storage space and was happy to get rid of it.  He said he paid $700 shipped and only played it 5 times.  The screen is severely out of focus and has some significant burn in.  I was disappointed when I saw this but for fifty large I'm not going to complain too much.  I will need to track down the sound effects issue and will have to source another monitor as this one is pretty much toast.  The game ran great tho so all in all a good haul for a great price.

The question of the day (for me) after seeing that truck is this:

Is that the same truck I saw going east down highway 92 with a full Ms. Pac Man in the back about a week ago?  :dizzy: :notworthy:

No but keep your eye out for one with a gutted super hang on and a centipede.  If you see it throw deuces.  If the drive doesn't throw back the number three then it isn't me, run him off the road and steal that truck.  I will pay bounty for the contents.
