Lighting Paradise Arcade 5v LED Lighted Arcade Pushbuttons
« on: February 06, 2012, 03:05:45 pm »
Anyone have any idea how i would light these. i am a noob in this area i purchased 16 buttons. I placed two links below of the buttons and a power supply i purchased but i have no idea what wires i would need and how i would connect them to light the buttons.

Also for the buttons details i purchased the 75 gram cherry microswitch and voltage for all the buttons is 5v.

If Im not mistaken, you should be able to tap into the 5v on you molex connector coming from your ps in your pc. I added a picture about what Im talking about.

He's using an arcade switching power supply, not a computer power supply. But all he needs to do (same principle) is put ground to ground and + of the LEDs to the 5V terminal of the power supply.

if i was to use a pc power supply or the power supply i have how would i connect each button to go to the power supply. That is where i am stumped. I am not good any wiring fyi. so what type of wires would i need to buy to connect them all to go to the power supply.
For examply do i have to do anything to the buttons or the wires on the buttons and how do they alll go to that one spot on the power supply.
 Thanks you in advance

If they're going to be on all the time, you can daisy chain the power and ground from one button to the next.

Looks like those will be fine. Judging by the pic of the button, the LED terminals look to be .250". Email Paradise to make sure though.

customer service told me .250 but at the of the button page it states the following....
So would the .250 fit? or do they have to be .187.

-Made to fit 24mm to 30mm holes (this includes 1 1/8 holes)
-Great for 1/16 inch metal to 3/4 inch wood control panels
-Buttons come complete with all parts needed (LED, microswitch, locking nut, and washer)
-Happ quality microswitches with .187" terminals

Also would i need the following link below to be on the wire or do i just need to split it somehow.

The terminals for the microswitch are .187" (but are stepped and can also accept a .250" female quick disconnect, so you can use either for the microswitches), the terminals for the LEDs are .250" (can't use .187" female quick disconnects on the LED terminals).

Also would i need the following link below to be on the wire or do i just need to split it somehow.

You wouldn't need that unless you want your LEDs to turn off when that particular button is pushed.

If i'm not mistaken I believe that you can tap 5v from the ipac if thats what your using as an encoder.

The Led Wiz gives so much flexibility for lighting buttons
It's programmable!

I was just pointing out an option for grabbing 5volts off of the button and control encoder (ipac)

Both Vendors are great
Groovy Game Gear and Ultimarc

The LED wiz will power the 16 single color buttons you have but you will have to supply it with a USB connection. I do not know how you will program the LED wiz and get it to operate without a computer.  You can just use a direct connection to your arcade power supply 5V and ground to run your LED buttons.  In that case you do not need and LED wiz.
