Possible to play videos with microxp?
« on: August 03, 2010, 07:38:19 pm »
I have been playing around with video support for hours now, I cant get anything to playback.

Animated GIF's - no problem at all, but cant manage .avi files

I assume its a codec related issue or possible a missing component from MicroXP installation.

I have installed xvid codec with support for FourCC (xvid, divx,dx50, mp4v)

v1.22 from http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

Any suggestions?  Thanks

I haven't a clue  ???    :dizzy:   ...... but recall seeing ffdshow codec mentioned in a couple of recent(ish)  threads....err this one and that one.  Also mentioned is a possible missing dll.
Good luck!

Try installing WMP 11.
Please, discuss the results.

I'm at work, so I don't have access to MALA at the moment, but I messed with codecs for a whole day before discovering a checkbox somewhere in the MALA options that needed to be checked.

It's been too long ago to remember the details, but I remember it being in an odd place where I didn't think it belonged.
Look at all the tabs and sub-tabs under MALA setup!

Sounds promising, cant see anything here - hopefully you can find it!

WMP11 made no difference ;(

Still at work, but this might have been it.....

Doesn't seem that hidden.  I do remember feeling like an idiot after uninstalling and reinstalling codecs a few times when all I had to do was check a box.   :embarassed:

jimmy2x2x,do you have the same problem with different versions of MALA?
Could you try with a old version of MALA? I've read in a post about the bass.dll library! have you that dll in your system on MicroXP?

bass.dll is present

I have just tried a fresh install a new folder with 1.0.5.8

No videos still

Then I copied the new beta into that folder

Tried again, no videos

bass.dll is for audio for older versions of MaLa.

Stripped down versions of Windows have issues with some video codecs

I don't know what is the problem of MicroXP with videos in Mala because the videos work fine in other programs.
Windows XP full version is not necesary. You can try with Suricata.
Sorry can not help more.

I've been testing MicroXP.
I found another version of MicroXP. You can look at putting MICROXP_V0.82.rar in Google.
I've installed WMP 10 and Klite codec Pack 6.04.

I got the videos to be seen.
Greetings.

I will be sure to have a look into your solution though, thanks!

I fully support loadman, he is doing an excellent job!

And I have really enjoyed using Mala, I will try my 30 day trial with MA, then comeback to Mala - following your instructions for the videos

Long Live MALA!!
