Fuglyest MAME cabinet ever
« on: July 26, 2010, 08:47:51 am »
Ran across this monstrosity on Craigslist (definitely not listed by me) and had to share.  The design is... original.  Not good, but certainly original:

Get the feel of playing in the arcade at home

Maybe if you lived on the floor of a dark grey industrial complex....

And check the keyboard mount. It looks like it's screwed to the front of the cab will steel angle brackets.

And that Marquee!

I wish the "crapmame" site or whatever it is called, did updates.  That site ws pretty funny and this would be worthy of being there.

Not surprised to see an X-Arcade sitting right at home on that pile.  :D

Not a usual suspect (add me to the list), but at least it appears to be parts dropped in a leftover kiosk (hospital?) rather than a custom built cab.
For that reason, I don't find it as heinous as the ones where someone puts countless hours into a turd of their own design.

You know, while I wouldn't want it in my house, I have to say I don't think it's the worst cab ever.  It is obviously based on a kiosk, but they seem to have done a nice job keeping it clean (well, except for the odd keyboard installation).  I'd say compared to some of the plywood cabinets I've seen pictures of, this one is WAY better.

Fugly...not really
Odd...you bet
Want...hells no!

its a little weird, but like others said, it was an obvious kiosk conversion.  i just hope that is not a full size refrigerator next to it, or this thing is gigantic.

"Wanting to swap for used Truck, Jeep or will take cash."

What?

"I don't have any use for my old Truck and Jeep anymore, should I sell them? Oh wait a second let me log onto craigslist, maybe I can get a MAME kiosk or two." "What's that? Sell them for thousands of dollars? Who would want to do that when... JACKPOT! LOOK AT THIS AWESOME STAND UP ARCADE SYSTEM! My prayers are answered! Is that picture taken from space!? I can see the Earth!"

Did I take that too far?

bigger screen, keyboard not tig welded to the front, and maybe a marquee in the hole up top, and of course something other then the Xarcade and Im sure thats something any 9 year old would be proud of.

And that my friends is why I gave up on trying to convert the kiosk I had and decided to build a bartop, and the kiosk I had looked a lot more like an Arcade machine then that.  But by no means is it the fugliest ever.

Is that...a keyboard?  Dangling from the front of that covered up phone booth?

I soooooo wish crapmame did updates too,  I would love to see the commentary that one got.

I'll trade my snowmobile.

Of course, it's not mint.....

The aluminum engine needs to be rebuilt..... Might need a new block I think.....

And the seat is cracked and peeling....

The electrical is shot....

The steering is bent.....

The skis might be bent too....

The track is shredded....

I suspect the tank is cracked....

Needs new manifold, trim, registration, dashboard, lights, exhaust system....

I still have the original ignition key. :)

It's stuck in the lock though....

Sounds like a fair trade to me...

No, no. I'm surprised no one, maybe especially them, has thought, 'That would be a great Tardis!'

Just a few additions, and a real control panel, and everybody would be saying, 'Damn, I want dat cab!!'

By the way, that's arcade Pac-Man. They don't know how to set up their MAME - or they do and they set it that way.

Somebody should hack an engine, steering, and wheels onto a kiosk and offer that for a trade.
