SF2/MK/NEO GEO cp layouts, 7 buttons or ???
« on: July 24, 2010, 07:51:19 pm »
I'd like to get feedback on how folks set up their fighting control panels, and reasoning.

I've seen 7 buttons where the top 6 are standard japanese but then there is one on the bottom left that is used for button A (thereby making buttons 4,5,6 = b,c,d respectively)   also what about mortal kombat block?

Just curious!

in terms of the 7 button layout for MK, the middle two attack buttons in SF can both be used to block in MK and the 7th button is for run, at least thats how I used it.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

i would pick the layout depending on the games that you play most. I just used the standard jap 6 button layout cause i mainly play capcom fighters, i left out the 7th button cause i dont really play enough snk games to warrant it.

Probably stick with the 7 button layout you have described, that covers everything except mortal kombat but you can easily play MK as malenko said

I'll be going with the 7 button layout - I love MK but not enough to have a goofy control panel that's unplayable for other games... so a street fighter layout with a run button, if that makes sense.

Thank you all for your replies.

I think I am going to go with something very similar to taito vewlix

The top 4 buttons will be ABCD, and I'm assuming the lone button on the right could also function as RUN in MK

Also I noticed something when I put my hands on my blank CP in order to determine the layout:  My hands feel more comfortable if they are pointed diagonally rather than straight at the monitor.  So I may wind up tilting my layout counter-clockwise.

To see what I mean, rest your hands on your keyboard.  My right index finger falls on N, middle on K, ring on L or O, and pinky on ; or P

May just be from years of typing, but that's how mine fit.  Anyone else?
