I got my code quickly, and any minor problems I've had have been fixed here. Delusional and the other more experienced users have been a great help.

Exact thing happened to me. Personally I hope the guy eats sht and dies. He took the money knowing darn good and well he would give no support. I hate to be so negative but hey he's a dirtbag for doing that. I hope they pirate the heck of it. I hope he's reading these messages. Things have a way of working themselves out for crooks like him.

I personally think you and some others are getting a little too worked up over a $25 dollar purchase (filling your car up with gas costs twice this amount).

So what's your beef? If you're having issues post them in the forum and we'll help you. Perhaps if we're lucky someone will assume control of the project and deliver some enhancements and new features, but to my knowledge the core functionality of this FE works fine (at least it does for me).

In my case I registered it and a couple of days later I had problems. Left posts and never heard a word. I have since moved on to GameEx and all is fine. This was a couple of months ago - I cant even remember what the problem was but others posted the same issue and never heard a word. That's not really important now. What's important now is that this guy continues to accept money and the buyer has no idea that he is on his own. If I would have known this before I bought it I would not have bought it. I really don't care what his issues are. That fact that he continues to accept money tells me he's a dirt bag. Here's another thing. If this problem was known by his minions ahead of time than shame on them for not bringing that to light.

As has been said before there is a 30 day trial for the software.  If there are major issues, most should be shown during that testing phase... that said I understand that not everything can be tested in 30 days.

I don't know who the "minions" comment was directed to, but I do know Delusional, I and several others are helping others with issues they are having.  I hardly find anyone helping another with problems on a message board worth bashing in any way shape or form.  I know Delusional and the various other people on the boards have helped me out a great deal and I am very appreciative of that help.

Also it has been commented in great detail on this board and the old one that the software is not likely to have any future updates and mameseer pretty much abandoned the project.  I don't think anyone could view that as a big secret or anything.

Updates or not, the software works great for me and I enjoy it on my cab and I will continue to help out others having questions on the software to the best of my ability as someone who uses Maximus Arcade.  I for one can definately say I got well more than my $25 worth of my software, but to each their own.

That said, there are plenty of front ends out there.  I'm glad you found one to your liking in the end.

He hasn't "abandoned" the software because he continues to accept money for it. I looked at the forums a few days before I registered my copy - I saw nothing about abandoning his involvement. I find it hard to believe you feel OK with supporting his work while he gets more money and doesn't offer you a second of help.

Not trying to stir the pot here, but the MA license agreement (item #5) clearly states that the software is provided "AS IS and without warranty of any kind". Purchasing the software does not entitle the Licensee to any support. Mameseer may be handling the situation poorly (to put it lightly) but he has done nothing illegal.

Copied from Maximus Aracade license.txt file:

5. Disclaimer of Warranty. Licensee expressly acknowledges and agrees that the use of the Software and its documentation is at Licensee's sole risk. The Software, documentation, and technical support are provided "AS IS" and without warranty of any kind. Information regarding any third party services included in this package is provided as a convenience only, without warranty by Maximus Arcade, and will be governed solely by the terms agreed upon between Licensee and the third party providing such services.

I'm ok supporting his work because I'm getting value out of it as the FE on my cabinet. Support is available when I need it. I don't recall seeing a Service Level Agreement being attached to the purchase.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............boring.....

Lets just move on shall we.  Its a measly $25 and quite frankly this is a better site for support anyway.  If $25 makes or brakes your budget your in the wrong hobby.

How about everyone take their attention to real problems like getting issues fixed for people.....like me  ;D.  I still have a damn issue with my master game list that cant seem to be fixed and I'm at a loss as to why.  See here http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=104090.0

So I'm back at BYOAC. Haven't been here for ages and I se that MA when belly up...
Just skimmed the thread and have to say that:
1.) Delusional, you're the top dog in my book.
2.) Artzoo.. Good work with the workaround.

Agreed!

However, what is NOT right is that Mameseer continues to operate the checkout feature of Maximus Arcade with absolutely no blurb or verbiage stating the support is in limbo.

Hi Guys,

I've been a member of MA forums since 2004.. and Have purchased my own MA license years back.  I too am a bit upset with Mameseer over the lack of updates from him.  I always looked forward to his upgrades, it was kinda like christmas for me.   Thanks goes out to Delusional for the constant work he did.   Mameseer, can you make the code/project open source?  Can you put up an amount of coin you would like then to make this happen?

We all loved your FE, but time keeps ticking and we simply can't wait around as bugs don't fix themselves.

Again, cheers to MA, the great frontend it is...and to the people that help others and made it work flawless at times!

Well, I wound up forking over $25 bucks last night. Afterwards, I found this thread.

Hoping I get a license ID from mameseer today. I am ok with no further updates - I like the software and don't have problems tackling projects.

For the curious folks out there, I purchased a code last night via PayPal - I received it tonight around 7pm.

My questions will come in other threads ;)

Wow. I check back a month later and he is still selling codes with no warning to the folks that they are on their own to find support. Amazing.

I agree; the language is misleading when you go to purchase the code (emphasis added):

Quote
For $25 (USD) you will receive a personalized registration code to unlock the 30 day trial version of Maximus Arcade. Please purchase a registered version of Maximus Arcade and the Maximus Arcade Theme Editor as your purchase will ensure the continuation of this project and updates will continue to be free!

I have loaded the trial version several times on my box before I installed it. I am also very aware that you can find the software elsewhere if you know where to search. Regardless of the lack of support for the software by the writer, I still feel he is entitled to make some coin for his efforts. At a minimum he should re-open the forums and/or direct people to here perhaps if they have questions.

Or just make the forum button point directly to here.

Or remove it altogether, if only temporarily, until they want to make them operational again.  Or post an approximate date when it could be expected to return.  Anything is better than what's on there now.  Anything.  I hate to say it, but reading through the comments, the program sounds like it's getting a bad name from all of the bad press.  If support is unavailable, that needs to be noted.  If "you're on your own" if you lose your code, that needs to be said.

Anyone who's read my other comments in other threads will know I always give someone the benefit of the doubt, and in this case, I believe the masses have spoken.  I came in here a month ago (maybe a bit more) and even then, their forums were down.  I don't believe it's too much to ask for a comment on the site from the site's owners.

Hi, all. I'm VERY new to all this and I've been spending far more hours on these forums reading and trying to understand all the ways to build and wire a machine up. I'm in the process of deciding which front end to use and it has come down to either Hyperspin or Maximus and Maximus' forums being down isn't going for it but Delusional's machine certainly is.

I have pretty much decided that I'd like to have something very similar to M37r01d's machine but I have no idea where I might find the plans to his machine or something very similar. I've been searching for hours and a lot of the links I've clicked on have been dead. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated on both the plans for the cab and also the front end situation.

I also need some advice with what spec I need to run all the games I would like to. That would include things like time crisis 2, MK4 in mame and preferably all the consoles up to PS2.

Thank you for your comments. Those plans aren't very easily read, not for a newbie like myself anyway. I'd always thought a router was something that connects to a computer and nothing else.  :-\ I'm wanting to have a 4 player cp exactly like metroids which is in the gallery and I need a flat backed cab with enough space for the 4 player cp to go on it, and I believe a 28" 4x3 28" sony tv should go into it but please tell me if that's a bad idea.

I have my setup for only 2 players, but player 3 and 4 are setup as xbox 360 pads.  This way everyone can play! and Some people actually prefer the controllers.

I'm finding it almost impossible to find something to fit in with what I want. I specifically want to make a cp almost identical to M37r01d's, but I get the feeling I will struggle to get measurements especially since the slikstik manufacturers have been slated somewhat. I'm not sure which plans would be the best for the cab so that the cp will fit snugly and will look like it was designed for the machine. I don't want to do this half heartedly, it has to look professional and I'm worried I will choose the wrong plans to follow and it will just look wrong.

So, If anyone has measurements for the cp please help (it would appear after further looking that the cp is a generic slikstik design) and if anyone can recommend a particular set of plans to fit in with this rather wide cp then please point me in the right direction for that too. Thanks.

Plans are available for download for the arcade cabinet but not the control panel.  But it can't hurt to contact them and ask if they have those plans available for purchase.

Yeah, I've seen the plans for that. I was wanting to build a machine that is flat at the back and built in one piece, The UAII looks very complicated to build and has what appears to be unnecessary joins between top and bottom. I've always found basic but well executed is the best way to go. I've seen a lot of plans also that are in imperial measurements. Being from the UK we have used the metric system for many years and I have no idea what 70" looks like and when it says things like 5/8" it gets worse. What's wrong with mm? Measurements in metric are far more precise and easy to understand but can't find any anywhere.

FYI,

The Maximus Forums are back up.  So you can still access information there.  I would still post stuff to the BYOAC forums instead, where there is a greater userbase (and more support).

Note:  Although I still have moderator status there, I have all but abandoned those older forums.  Any questions can be directed to me here on the BYOAC forums.

Thanks!
