I hope it is good.  I also hope it supports 1080i or else I won't ever play it.

Doesn't look like too much of a rip-off to me at all...many other types of games that are way closer in gameplay/appearance...its almost an homage to 2d console jrpgs in general not just Zelda...you could make the same argument for Lunar or half a dozen other 2d console jrpgs.

Funny you mention this. I used to be a total anti JRPG console guy...I was steadfastly a PC western rpg gamer, until getting my backwards compatible playstation 3 and having my stubborn friend force Final Fantasy VII on me...

I remember balking at the cartoony graphics and laughing at the "at times" childish dialogue...then I played it and wham I was hooked.  All my jaded attitude (not you Javeryh...just me personally!) did was deprive me of much gaming goodness.

Happy to report that these last 4 years I have played everything from Chrono Trigger/Cross through to Final Fantasy XII and yes even Zelda...and enjoyed the experience.

I like to hear that Epyx.
Zelda was the first game I had for the NES and it was a huge part of my childhood so naturally I'm on board.  Of course not everyone has a magical attachment to that series that I do but I'm glad it can still hold up today for those who didn't live it as a kid.

I lived in a forest and I had a plastic sword and shield when I was a kid. I WAS link.
I also did some time as Rambo and a ninja.....

heh, It looks really cool and I love old school games (obviously!) - even modern ones designed to look old school (go play Half Minute Hero NOW if you haven't - it is FANTASTIC).  My 1080i comment was because that is the only HD standard my TV supports.  I own a PS3 but I can't play 50% of the games on it because of my TV and Sony's idiocy in not including an internal scaler in the PS3 (my Xbox 360 plays everything and it all looks beautiful on the same TV).  All PS3 games not specifically coded to output in 1080i default to 480p on my TV and I refuse to pay $60 for something that won't display properly especially when there are hundreds of PS2 games I can pick up for next to nothing.  This is why I really hope it supports 1080i - I want to play it!

Now don't get me wrong...i still LOVE my western rpgs...for me what you equate with Zelda, I equate with the Ultima series and other classic computer rpgs like Phantasie/Bard's Tale/Might and Magic/Wizardry...ive just added the JRPGs into the mix ;)

That is a pain Javeryh.  And with the PS2 games you at least get them upscaled properly so I see where you are coming from.

But complaining is way cheaper!  Plus the PS3 is the ONLY "HD" consumer electronics device that doesn't have an internal scaler - it is so annoying.  Funny that all blu-rays look great but all games (the PS3s primary function) do not.

Indeed, the direct competitor to the PS3, the Xbox 360 allows you to select any video mode for any game.

And this is the reason why ALL multi-platform games are on the 360 in my house.

that sucks...it's weird that your tv would support 1080i, but not 720p.  it is really stupid that the ps3 can't scale anything.  i also buy all multi platform games for my 360...not because of resolution issues, but just because i just like it better.  i think the controller is better (dpad sucks though) and xbox live just blows away what sony has to offer.

sounds like you have a prime reason to buy a new TV though :)

i dont know what size TV you have now...but we just picked up a 42" vizio  a few weeks ago for $750 and it is awesome.  it is pretty much my wife's TV, but i am very impressed with the picture quality.  to be fair i havent played any games on it, since all of my consoles are connected to my mitsubishi projector instead, but the HD programming through directv looks amazing.

Yea for the same reason I never got into any of the FFs I tried FFX and I just could not get into it, is FF7 really good?  If someone doesnt like RPGs too much is FF7 still good?

FF7 was the best out of the bunch for me.

All games I have played support 760p. I cant understand why TV that support 1080i cant supprot 760p, because its should been the native resolution of that TV, if it don't support 1080p. That sucks, and I guess its not a PS3 fault.

I have not a issue with any games in 760p on my PS3.

... And this look like a cool Zelda inspirited game.....  :D

I just wanted to quote you so you cant change the 760s to 720s.

My TV is from January 2004.  The HD standards weren't set yet - they had TVs that did 720p or 1080i but not many of them, if any, did both.  The 1080i TVs were newer so we went with the newer tech when we bought the TV.  I have ZERO complaints about the TV though - it has been nothing short of amazing even when there were only a handful (<10?) channels to choose from back then.  I just refuse to buy another one since my Panasonic plasma works so great.

Could you buy some sort of upscaler for the TV?  a small box that has HMDI in and HDMI out and upscales everything to 1080i?  You cant be the only one with this problem.

I always thought FFVI (Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES in NA) was a much better game than FF7.

Epyx, I had forgotten about the Ultima series until you brought it up. I checked my gaming box and I still have my soft cloth maps and moonstones that they packaged with every PC game. It's a pity that Ultima went with the MMORPG route and stopped making single player RPGs. :D

Yep, thanks to EA :(

The last few Origin published games were fantastic (System Shock/Ultima Underworld etc).  /sigh

I could but they are expensive ($300 or so).  If I was going to spend any money on this I'd just buy a new TV.  I'm holding out for a projector though - we are kicking around the idea of putting an addition on the house and if it happens I want to get a projector for movies/TV/games in the basement.

I like how they take modern game music and add an 8-bit layer to it.
There's not too many new games that get me excited but I'll give this a try for sure.  Need to dust off that PS3...
