Lost Keys for Happs Over/Under Coin Door
« on: February 21, 2010, 01:34:12 pm »
My first build took residence at my nephews for several years which now has moved to another family member's gameroom.

However, they've lost the keys to coin door which was originally purchased from Happ's about 8 years ago...like this one:

http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40003800.htm

I searched on Happs but did not see "keys" as a part replacement.

Any suggestions on how to get replacement keys for my unit?

Drill the lock, put in a new one. They're cheap enough. Vendors here sell them, or you can get them at hardware stores.

someties going thru the back door, you can unscrew the latch from the coin door.

once you go through the back and remove lock from door you can take the lock apart, remove pins, put lock back together and almost any key will work.
dummy lock it.

remove the lock, replace from home depot, or from arcade vendor.  The cam locks they sell at lowes would not fit my coin door, they were too fat. But the ones from home depot fit perfectly

Some of happs locks have the key code marked on the outside of the lock. (example a05) If it does, order up a key from them.

I have the same coin doors and Tornado Terry's sells ones that are keyed alike.  So one key will open everything.  They go for about $3.15 or so.

As far as getting them unlocked:  +1 on accessing it from the back of the cabinet to remove the lock.  Second option would be to drill them out.  Basically you drill a hole right where the key would go into on the front of the lock.  Once you drill all the way through it, the lock will turn so that you can open it.  The third method would be to jimmy it open, but I DO NOT recommend that, since it will damage your door.
